Today StockX welcomed college basketball player, community organizer, and social media sensation Jamad Fiin to the company’s roster of brand ambassadors. An inspiration to athletes everywhere, Jamad has used her platform to launch youth basketball camps and tournaments aimed at uplifting other female and Somali Muslim basketball players across the United States.
“I’m a longtime fan so I’m very excited about the opportunity to partner with StockX, a company that always has a pulse on both what’s now and what’s next,” said Jamad. “As a Muslim woman who didn’t see people that looked like me growing up in basketball, StockX’s focus on inclusivity and access resonates deeply and I look forward to working together to show how fashion can be for anyone, regardless of their background.”
To further amplify Jamad’s voice and the work she’s doing to advocate for young Muslim women and female athletes everywhere, StockX will support the expansion of her basketball camps, creating more exposure and opportunity within communities across the United States and, for the first time ever, internationally. Together, StockX and Jamad also aim to showcase alternative views on personal style and encourage women across the globe to express their unique fashion identities with confidence.
“Our partnership with Jamad is another example of our commitment to amplifying the work of female athletes who are fighting for equity in the male-dominated world of sports,” said Deena Bahri, CMO at StockX. “Jamad is not only using her platform to change the narrative around women in the field, but about Muslim women and girls who aspire to be professional athletes, and we’re honored to be able to work in partnership with her to celebrate their diversity and determination.”
On the heels of StockX’s ‘Built Different’ campaign – which commends the defiance and versatility of women in current culture – the partnership further solidifies StockX’s commitment to equity, female participation in sport, and investment in the industry. Jamad joins power-players such as Paige Bueckers, Briana King, Sydney Parker (aka Sydeon), and Brittney Elena who were announced as StockX brand ambassadors last year.
