[DETROIT]  July 13, 2022StockX, a trusted global platform for consuming and trading current culture products, has expanded its global network yet again with the launch of a Drop-Off in Tokyo’s renowned Harajuku district. Opening a local Drop-Off unlocks a simplified selling experience, eliminating the need for sellers to box up their sold items, print shipping labels, and mail them to a StockX authentication center to be authenticated. Additionally, the Drop-Off will offer a new shoppable experience to buyers in the region.

The Tokyo Drop-Off is StockX’s third permanent Drop-Off and the first of those three locations to feature a shoppable experience. The first floor of the Drop-Off will display a selection of top-selling products on StockX, giving shoppers the opportunity to see a product up close before purchasing it online. In addition to the products on display, StockX will feature a rotating selection of items available for purchase in-store. This curated sampling of products will include a range of independent and regional brands at the center of current culture.

“More than just a hub for global business, Tokyo and the design epicenters that make up the city have long celebrated and cultivated the idea of borderless fashion,” said StockX CEO Scott Cutler. “In addition to providing ultimate convenience and cost-saving benefits to our local sellers, this Drop-Off will act as a point of discovery for both new and existing StockX buyers. Fashion is the ultimate form of self-expression, and consumers already rely on our platform for access to the world’s most sought-after products and brands. This curated shopping experience brings that same StockX spirit to the physical world.”

Today, StockX has permanent Drop-Offs in Tokyo, New York City, and Hong Kong, in addition to a long-running pop-up location in London. The company has seen increased seller activity in markets where Drop-Offs have been introduced, with permanent and pop-up locations having facilitated more than one million trades and counting.

“We know that our success as a global brand hinges on our ability to meet customers where they are,” said Duy Doan, senior director, StockX Japan. “Japanese service hospitality or ‘omotenashi’ is synonymous with how Japanese consumers approach daily life. With that ethos and our deep commitment to the customer experience in mind, we made the strategic decision to expand our standard Drop-Off blueprint and include a new in-person shoppable offering in Tokyo.”

To celebrate the opening of the Tokyo Drop-Off, StockX has teamed up with Japanese brand BlackEyePatch to release a special capsule collection of T-shirts via DropX. DropX is StockX’s direct-to-consumer product release method, which gives innovative and independent brands of all sizes the opportunity to sell exclusive products directly to StockX’s global audience. One of the T-shirts will be exclusively pre-released and available for purchase at StockX’s new Drop-Off on Saturday, July 16 at 11:30 AM JST.
