Nike Air Max Plus Sneakers

Originally designed as a running shoe, the Nike Air Max Plus debuted in 1998, created by Sean McDowell, who was inspired by the swaying palm trees he noticed when he was on holiday on the beaches of Florida. Also known as the Nike Air Max TN, TN standing for Tuned Air, the Nike Air Max Plus has found fame over the decades in the US, as well as internationally.

The Nike Air Max Plus has an upper constructed of mesh and enclosed by a TPU cage of wavy lines, meant to both conjure images of palm trees and ocean waves, as well as provide structure to the lightweight upper. Tuned Air branding in an orange octagonal patch usually appears on both the tongue and the heel tab. The Nike Air Max Plus has become known for some of its more colorful uppers, including the OG Pimento colorway that was originally meant to evoke images of a sunrise.

What sets the Nike Air Max Plus apart from other sneakers is the Tuned Air. The visible Air units in the midsole work in tandem as a system where opposing polymer hemispheres absorb shock and prevent your foot from rolling inward. The midsole is supported by a midfoot TPU plate that appears in the shape of a whale's tail on the sidewall, continuing the beach theme of the shoe.

Over the years, the Nike Air Max Plus running shoe has also become a lifestyle shoe across the globe. Nike has done collaborations with the Supreme streetwear label, resulting in sneakers such as the Supreme X Nike Air Max Plus 'Mean Green', which pairs perfectly with the Supreme Nike Air Max Plus running hat. The Nike Air Max Plus is the ultimate in comfort, support, and undeniable street style.
