Haroshi

From the first time he picked up a board in his early teens, Japanese artist Haroshi has always had a passion for skateboarding — a passion that he has infused into his artwork, using pieces from skateboard decks stacked on top of one another to create seemingly striped sculptures. As a self-taught woodworker with no formal art-training, Haroshi’s process and success is a testament to the DIY ethos of skateboarding, having collaborated with the likes of Nike for a pair of SBs and Medicom for his own Bearbrick. Currently based in Tokyo, Haroshi offers us an inside-access to the skate and art scene of his iconic city.
