The Daybreak is a low top shoe with a nylon and suede upper. It has a low profile and a simple, aggressive form. The Daybreak features a thick and flared EVA midsole, a waffle outsole and a cup innersole. The unique waffle outsole was developed originally to increase traction and improve durability. The Daybreak was the first Nike shoe to include a straight last. Today, the Daybreak is considered a retro or vintage look. There have been improvements on the iconic design via updated colorways and color swaps, like the Vegas Gold College Orange. In 2019, to celebrate the Daybreak's 40th anniversary, Nike collaborated with Jun Takahashi from Undercover. Working with the classic Daybreak form, Takahashi added a stabilizing heel counter.
