How long do Bids stay active on StockX?

3/31/2022

When you submit a Bid below the current lowest Ask, you'll be able to determine how many days the bid is live for—1, 3, 7, 14, 30, or 60. You will always receive an email from StockX when your bid is about to expire to see if you would like to extend it. Additionally, you are free to adjust the price of your Bid or cancel it entirely at any point before it matches with an Ask.

What happens if I am outbid for an item?

If you are outbid for an item on StockX, one of several things can happen, depending on whether or not the new highest Bid meets the lowest Ask:

  1. If you are outbid for an item and the new highest Bid meets a Seller's lowest Ask, that Bid wins the item. You are now the highest Bid again, unless another Buyer has placed a bid in between your Bid and the winning Bid, in which case they will become the new highest Bid.
  2. If you are outbid for an item and the new highest Bid does not meet a Seller's lowest Ask, you can decide to list a new Bid that's higher than the one that outbid you, or Buy Now at the lowest available Ask to make sure you get that new pair of kicks you've been eyeing.
  3. If you are outbid for an item and the new highest Bid does not meet a Seller's lowest Ask and you decide not to increase your bid, there is always a chance that a Seller will lower their Ask to the new highest Bid, in which case the item will sell to the person who placed the higher Bid.
  4. If you bid the same amount as someone else (EX. a different Buyer has a bid of $200 and then you place another Bid for $200 as well), the Buyer whose bid was placed first will be accepted.

Although Buy Now is always the surefire way to get an item that you want, there's no wrong way to "play the game" at StockX as a Buyer.

As a Buyer, how will I know when I have been outbid?

Buyers will receive an email when they are no longer the highest Bid for an item. Even if you are outbid for an item, your Bid stays live on the site for as long as you maintain it. So there is still a chance you may become the highest Bid again if the Bid above you is completed or that Buyer withdraws prior to being matched with a Seller.
