How does UK VAT affect me as a StockX Seller?
With effect from 1 June 2024, all UK Sellers with a valid VAT identification number registered in the UK will be required to register their VAT number using our third-party vendor, Persona. You can enter your VAT number by accessing the Persona verification link in your Account Settings page or at the time of reviewing and placing an Ask. Your account status will be updated when you have completed this. You will also be required to complete the self-billing agreement. Failure to complete this agreement will result in the suspension of selling features.

What should I do if I am not VAT registered?
If you are not a VAT registered customer, no further action is needed.

How does UK VAT affect me as a StockX Buyer?
As a UK Buyer, your shopping experience on StockX will not change. For VAT purposes, when you buy items on StockX, they will now be considered a purchase from StockX as a Seller. If you have a valid VAT number in the UK and you buy items as a business using this number, please make sure that you communicate this to us as you may be eligible for benefits. You can enter your VAT number by accessing the Persona verification link in your Account Settings page.

As a UK VAT-registered Buyer, where can I get a tax invoice for the items I purchased on StockX?
If you are a UK VAT-registered Buyer, you can access your tax invoices by navigating to your Buying page, clicking on "History" and then "Export". A file containing your tax invoices will be generated and sent to your email address.

How is VAT charged on transactions in the UK?
With effect from 1 June 2024, StockX is acting as an undisclosed agent for UK VAT purposes only. This means that as a UK Seller, you are deemed to sell your item to StockX and as a UK Buyer, you are deemed to purchase your item from StockX. StockX is responsible for collecting, paying, reporting and remitting UK VAT on certain purchase transactions from you as a UK Seller and on certain sales transactions to you as a UK Buyer.

StockX will only add output VAT to your final payout and invoices if you have provided us with a shipping address in the United Kingdom and a valid UK VAT registration number.

What is a self-billing invoice and how can I obtain one?
If you are a UK Seller who is VAT registered in the UK, you are required to sign and comply with the self-billing agreement to be able to trade on the StockX platform. According to that agreement, StockX takes on the responsibility of issuing an invoice for the sale of an item from the Seller to StockX. This invoice is known as a self-billing invoice. This self-billing invoice shows the items you sold and the amount you were paid, including the VAT amount that you are required to remit to the tax authorities - i.e. His Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC).

You can access self-billing invoices by navigating to your Selling page, clicking "History" and then "Export". The self-billing invoice will then be generated and sent to your email address.

How does StockX use my UK VAT registration number?
StockX is required to collect UK VAT registration numbers from Sellers and Buyers to accurately determine their status (business or consumer), the taxable status of the item, and the type of supporting documentation that StockX is able to provide to the user. The UK VAT number provided to StockX is not publicly available and is treated in accordance with the applicable regulations of handling personal information.

How will UK VAT changes impact my Asks?
The StockX marketplace uses dynamic rates depending on where the Buyer and the Seller are located. As such, this might mean that your Ask appears as a slightly different amount on the product page. To ensure that you are the lowest Ask in your region, follow the "Earn More" pricing guidance. In order to list as the lowest Ask to a US Buyer, please see the "Sell Faster" guidance price.
