Sales Tax Exemption

Depending on where you live in the US, you may be required to pay sales tax on your StockX purchases. You may see this in checkout under a few different names including sales tax, duty, VAT, GST etc.

When you buy an item on StockX, the required taxes may vary depending on the item’s price, composition and your location.

Some states in the US allow Buyers to receive sales tax exemptions which remove the sales tax burden from each purchase. To qualify for an exemption, you must register your business with your local government stating that StockX is a supplier of goods for your business that you intend to resell. Your business will be responsible for the sales tax burden on your future sales, but you will be exempt from paying tax on your purchases from StockX.

Do I qualify for Sales Tax Exemption?
If you are a tax-exempt individual or organisation and have registered your resale business with your local government, then you may qualify for sales tax exemption.

Where can I find information about my state’s tax programmes?
We advise you to speak with your tax advisor and/or check with your local government website. You can also look at these two sites for more information about state-by-state guidelines.

How do I get started?
Visit our Exemption Certificate Portal, enter your information and follow the steps accordingly. Once submitted, please allow 5-7 working days for approval and confirmation. Once your information is confirmed, you will be notified and your account will be free from sales tax. If there are any rejections or issues, users will be notified of the specific details and will need to amend and resubmit.

Can I be refunded for sales tax paid on previous purchases?
If you qualify for a sales tax exemption and register your business with your local government, you will be exempt from paying taxes on StockX purchases after registration. StockX cannot refund any sales tax paid on purchases prior to your registration with both your local government and StockX.
