What are the condition requirements for handbags sold on StockX?

StockX requires all handbags to be in brand new condition.

StockX defines this as unworn and in pristine condition. However, as with bags and accessories sold at retail, some items will pass StockX's verification despite having been tried on, placed on display and/or having slight manufacturer flaws and imperfections. All handbags must come with a branded dust bag included. We strongly encourage every Seller to include any additional original tags, and/or boxes, but these are not required as they will vary depending on the original purchase location. We require any original accessories that may have been included by the manufacturer – straps, lock and key, pouches etc. – unless otherwise stated on the product page.

Handbag types that require a dust bag, unless otherwise noted on the product page, include: Crossbody bag, Hobo bag, Top handle bag, Waist bag, Shoulder bag, Messenger bag, Tote, Clutch, Duffle bag and Backpack.

For more information about conditions for handbags, refer to blog post: How to Follow StockX Bag Condition Guidelines.

What are the condition guidelines for a Hermès Birkin or Kelly sold on StockX?

When selling an Hermès Birkin or Kelly on StockX we require all the original packaging and accessories to be sold with it, which includes the following:

  • The original orange box and tissue paper
  • The original dust bag for the bag itself
  • The felt protector
  • The smaller dust bag for the clochette/lock
  • The raincoat in the plastic bag

Does StockX take into account how old a bag is when verifying it?

When it comes to older styles and vintage items (over 10 years old), brand new can include minor signs of shelf aging, including slight darkening of vachetta leather on Louis Vuitton items. However, there must be no signs of use.

What are the common reasons that a handbag does not pass verification?

We will refuse an item due to the following reasons:

  • The item features broken parts
  • The item does not meet our condition guidelines
  • The handbag does not include the required original accessories like straps or detachable pouches or branded dust bag
  • The item does not include proper date code and/or serial numbers
    • Chanel:
      • Missing or illegible serial code (2021 & prior)
      • Missing metal plaque (2021 and going forward)
    • Louis Vuitton:
      • Date Code (February 2021 and prior)
      • For handbags and accessories produced in March 2021 and going forward, date codes are not required.
    • Hermes:
      • Blind stamp
    • Gucci:
      • Model and Serial Number

If we receive an inauthentic or counterfeit item, you will be charged 15% of the quoted value.

Can I sell a handbag on StockX that is missing its original accessories?
