This time of year always has us reminiscing, especially with less than one month away from 2020 (I’m not freaking out, you’re freaking out). 2019 was a huge year for handbags that we were totally and utterly here for – from New Bottega’s “The Pouch” phenomenon that nobody saw coming to LV’s highly coveted Multi Pochette. All these new logos and monograms (Hi Burberry) and reworked silhouettes made us want to take a take a stroll down handbag  memory lane, so get ready to feel some major bag nostalgia. Here’s our roundup of all the iconic bags that defined the decade.

 Celine Luggage – 2010

The Celine Luggage Tote was officially the It bag of 2010. The bag was a major hit under the direction of Phoebe Philo and was a favorite amongst the Kardashian/Jenner clan.

Givenchy Antigona – 2011

First introduced in Givenchy’s FW 2011 collection, the Givenchy Antigona was crafted by none other than then creative director Ricardo Tisci. The Antigona was spotted on multiple celebs at the time and featured many different colors and variations. A hybrid of a bowler and a duffle, this it bag is a cult fav amongst Rihanna and Hailey Bieber.

Chanel Boy Bag – 2012

Though the  Chanel Boy Bag  was introduced in Karl Lagerfeld’s SS11 Spring/Summer collection,  the beloved bag was spotted nearly everywhere the following year. Named after Coco Chanel’s lover and muse Boy Capel, the one and only Boy Bag has become one of the most highly sought after designs from the French luxury house.

Saint Laurent Sac De Jour – 2013

Under the creative vision of Heidi Slimane, the Sac De Jour was born during a controversial time – right after YSL changed its name to “Saint Laurent.” This modern silhouette is still a vastly popular choice until this day.

 Gucci Soho Disco – 2014

The Gucci Soho Disco was a cult favorite for both celebs and the public at large, which is what made this everyday classic so popular in the first place. This was around the time the Italian luxury house was on the cusp of their comeback as a brand.

 Gucci Dionysus – 2015

From Gucci’s Fall 2015 collection, the Dionysus shoulder bag in GG Supreme has already become an instant classic.  The design was inspired by the Greek god of wine, fertility, theater, and ritual madness.

Chloe Drew – 2016

The Chloe Drew bag definitely had its moment in 2016 – you couldn’t scroll through your IG feed without seeing influencers such as Olivia Culpo donning this mini chain bag.

Gucci Marmont Camera – 2017

Gucci has had quite a decade in favorable bags. Launched in 2017 and under the creative direction of Alessandro Michele,  the Marmont Camera Bag was for sure a game changer – the iconic GG logo would soon appear all over the brand’s belts and accessories.

 Dior Saddle – 2018

From John Galliano’s Spring/Summer 2003 collection, the Dior Saddle bag galloped back into our hearts a decade and then some later all throughout 2018. The return of the Dior logo took IG and the streets of fashion week by storm. The ultimate western throwback that is the iconic Saddle bag was made popular by none other than Carrie Bradshaw and Paris Hilton.

Louis Vuitton Prism Keepall – 2019

Last but certainly not least, though there were many close seconds, it was  Mr. Virgil Abloh’s legendary, Kaleidoscopic  Prism Keepall from his debut SS19 collection for Louis Vuitton that truly set the tone and defined 2019.
