Sneaker Data Company Campless.com Receives Investment from Detroit Venture Partners and Dan Gilbert

-Campless Launches Collections and Relocates Headquarters to Downtown Detroit-

September 17, 2015 [DETROIT]Campless.com, a website that provides data to sneaker collectors – better known as “sneakerheads” – today announced that it has received a significant investment from Detroit Venture Partners, a Detroit-based venture capital firm that invests in seed and early-stage technology companies. Dan Gilbert is a managing partner of the firm as well as Founder and Chairman of Quicken Loans and Rock Ventures and majority owner of the Cleveland Cavaliers. Campless has relocated its headquarters from Philadelphia to One Campus Martius in downtown Detroit’s growing tech scene.

“It’s an amazing opportunity to partner with such successful business people like Dan and the partners at DVP,” said Campless Founder and CEO Josh Luber. “I am confident that this investment and the move to Detroit are perfect catalysts for the next stage of Campless growth.”

Campless operates like a Kelly Blue Book for the secondary sneaker market by collecting, analyzing and distributing data about the industry, which the company estimates to be more than $6 billion globally. Since launching in 2012, the website has built a loyal following of all three sneaker industry participants – consumers, businesses and financial experts – while establishing itself as the definitive source for all data related to the resell sneaker market. Campless “data” customers include investment firms focused on the retail footwear industry, while banks like Goldman Sachs and Deutsche Bank use Campless data as inputs for their industry points of view.

In addition to the new investment, today the company launched “Collections”, a portfolio-like feature where sneakerheads can track the value of their shoes over time, compare their collection with other users and view financial metrics previously reserved for traditional assets like stocks and mutual funds. To celebrate the debut of such a game changing feature like “Collections,” Campless is giving away 73 pairs of sneakers, one for every week since Campless launched, including some of the most coveted pairs out there. Users earn entries into a giveaway by adding to their collection and cop list or inviting friends to start a collection.

“With Campless, Josh has created a unique methodology and vision for using data to create products, communities and businesses. This presents unlimited possibilities, not only within the sneaker industry, but any business aware of the powerful role data plays in their industry,” said Gilbert. “This is exactly the type of high-quality, innovative company that further positions Detroit as a thriving tech hub, and Campless’ decision to set up shop in the city is just another example that the entire country has woken up to the opportunity in Detroit.”
