Another large addition to the Supreme Fall/Winter 2017 collection was a collaboration between the streetwear giant and the AKIRA franchise that included this Supreme AKIRA hoodie. AKIRA is a Japanese manga and film by Katsuhiro Otomo based around a post-World World III era that involves motorcycle gangs, disarray and beings with supernatural powers. For many the film adaptation is a animation and science fiction masterpiece thanks to its storytelling and visualization. Supreme was allowed to use images from the manga so they used some of the most memorable scenes. The “Arm” image featured on the sweatshirt is a moment that anyone who has read the manga or seen the movie remembers. Of course a small modification is seen with the character sporting a Supreme box logo. As they say, a picture is worth 1,000 words. The black and white original Otomo artwork is front and center, printed on the cotton hooded sweatshirt. The only exterior branding seen is the AKIRA kanji name added to the hood.
