Footwear brands have risen to iconic status over the years. Nike, adidas, and Converse are just a few brands that come to mind when we think of popular sneaker brands with an expansive history, starting as far back as the 1910s. However, in a comparably short time, Common Projects has distinguished itself in the market with their stylish, minimalist offerings, particularly with their Achilles Low sneakers. To understand just how the brand quickly rose in fame, we’re taking a closer look at Common Projects’ history and how it has become a force to be reckoned with in the world of footwear.

Common Projects Original Achilles

Common Projects was founded in 2004 by creative minds Prathan Poopat and Flavio Girolami. The two friends shared a vision of creating a sneaker that would transcend the fleeting trends of the fashion industry. Over the years, Common Projects has expanded its line to include different styles of sneakers, alongside chelsea boots, loafers, derbies, and leather accessories. In the beginning, purchasing an Achilles Low was a commitment. Before the brand was more widely available, Common Projects’ shoes were investments and ranged from $400 to $600 on a single pair at retail. Even though those prices may seem high for a sneaker, we reiterate that it is truly an investment. Not only are their products timeless in their design, but the quality of their products cannot be compromised and will be shoes you can rely on for years. Common Projects prioritize the use of high-quality material and excellent craftsmanship in each shoe, ensuring its longevity and durability. Today, thanks to StockX, you can secure a pair of Achilles for around $220, still a high price for a low-top white tennis shoe, but it’s a sneaker that ends up paying for itself, once you consider how long it will last.
