StockX Dads Name the Best Father’s Day Gifts

We asked our team members their dream Father’s Day gifts and what life is like as a “cool” dad.

We asked our team members their dream Father’s Day gifts and what life is like as a “cool” dad.

If your dad is anything like the dads at StockX, he’s been working hard all year. And what do hard workers deserve? The best.

But what’s “the best” to the dad who stands outside in the rain at your soccer games, stays up late to help build your science projects, gets you through the airport with zero fuss, assembles that basketball court in the driveway, and is always a shoulder to lean on when the going gets tough?

We went straight to the source and asked our team members (and all-around great dads) for their dream Father’s Day gift. And since it’s a feel-good occasion, we asked them about fatherhood, too.

Jamie D., Associate Creative Director

Jamie is a StockX OG and lead champion of our Creative team. During his 9-5, he’s defending our brand voice and visual identity. After hours, he’s at little league, making grilled cheeses, or getting beat by his son in Mario Kart.

“Raising them, protecting them, spending time with them, nothing beats it…you watch them develop their own personality, passions, and hobbies. Nothing’s ever going to be cooler than this. To me, that’s the best part about being a Dad”

Dream Gifts (he gave us two):

First pick: the 2001 Air Jordan 11 Cool Grey, which he notes, “started it all for me,” and we understand why. The pair was Jordan brand’s first release of the now beloved colorway, and the model has only been retroed twice (three times if you include the 2018 Air Jordan 11 Low iteration).

Next on his wishlist: the Jordan 4 Retro Doernbecher, AKA the “Superman 4s”. Like any real grail, it’s sentimental. The pair was in partnership with the Doernbecher Children’s Hospital, and its designer, 11-year old Isaiah Scott, battled Leukemia. It’s a story that hit home for Jamie who’s younger brother battled – and beat – his diagnosis. The kicks “…went from just a ‘hype’ pair to wear into something closer to art.”

Tyronne H., Sneaker Authenticator II

Tyronne is a long-time Authenticator, upholding our verification process and protecting customers from fakes. Once the day’s orders are shipped out, he and his daughter can be found at dance class, swim lessons, or the mall for a treat.

“The best part of being a Dad is providing. Nothing’s better than spoiling my kid.”

Dream Gift:

Like any daddy’s girl, his daughter is laced with the best. This year, his perfect Father’s Day gift is a pair to match her swag: the Jordan 1 Retro Low OG SP Travis Scott Olive. The latest release from the rapper/designer features his signature reverse Swoosh against a neutral Olive, Sail, and black colorway. The drop released in full family sizing, so it’s a perfect pair for flexing with dad.

Kenny M., VP of Brand Marketing

When he’s not in dad mode, cheering on his soccer prodigy son, Kenny’s making sure StockX is staying visually and culturally relevant at the helm of our Creative and Cultural Marketing teams.

“The purpose that it gives me in my day-to-day life – to build the path for my kids to lead their life’s journey – it’s the best and most important job of my life.”

Dream Gift:

The Jordan 1 Retro Shattered Backboards, a top notch aspiration for any collector. The tumbled leather pair dons the elevated Sail colorway, which, in this writer’s opinion, is Nike’s most premium palette option. The name, of course, hails from MJ’s infamous ‘86 exhibition game where he literally shattered the backboard off a dunk, but the highlight of this footwear flex is that head-turning Starfish orange – a guaranteed Father’s Day pleaser.

Oto P., Staff Software Engineer

Oto has been on the StockX squad for over four years, making him part of the illustrious OG roster. At work, he’s a backend engineer (you can thank him for helping bring Bulk shipping to life), and when the laptop’s closed, he’s likely monkeying around with his three daughters at the zoo.

“Walking into a room and having three beautiful girls say, ‘hi daddy’ – it melts my heart every day.”

Dream Gift:

To no surprise, another AJ1 made the list. Oto’s pick: the Air Jordan 1 Retro Lost & Found. And who can blame him? The Chicago colorway is a classic, first introduced in 1985 and retroed only a few times since. Playing into its vintage heritage, the pair dons yellowed accents and even cracked leather, giving it an aged look. An OG for your OG.

Damien H-C., Chief Impact Officer

Damien joined the StockX squad back in 2022 to lead the charge on our global community initiatives and all things DEI. It’s a big task, but he never shies from a challenge – especially when it comes to being a dad.

“Parenting is no joke. It’s beautiful, challenging, humbling and beautiful again, all at once, over and over…The best part is knowing that how I show up will impact [her] outlook on life…it’s a heck of a realization, but one I’m honored to share as her father.”

Dream Gift:

There are barely any Asks up on Damien’s dream grail, which let’s you know it’s super rare. The Jordan 3 Retro DJ Khaled Grateful was a limited edition run, released only to select DJ Khaled fans, friends, and family. At the time of it’s 2017 drop, Khaled was a Jordan Brand ambassador, so the pair is extra special, commemorating his tenth studio album, Grateful. Rounding out its look is the producer’s famous dictum, “We The Best”, which can be found on the heel and insoles.

So, if you’re celebrating Father’s Day with your dad this year, consider splurging on something that’s been on their dream wishlist. We have a feeling they’ll cherish it for a lifetime.
