New Balance has had a killer run in 2020 thus far, delivering knockout collaborations since the beginning of the year. Recently, we highlighted February’s “No Emotions Are Emotions” collaboration with Chicago artist Joe Freshgoods. Today, we bring you the highly sought after JJJJound 992. Easily one of the hottest sneakers to drop this summer, Montreal-based designer JJJJound put his minimalist spin on the popular 992 silhouette.
For those unfamiliar with the brand, JJJJound started as a visually focused blogspot which led a mood board revolution on Tumblr. The site was a forefather of inspiration for popular IG accounts like HIDDEN NY and yungwatergun. Now JJJJound is a full-on lifestyle brand, focusing on minimalist designs and products, and letting quality do the talking. Their work on the New Balance 992 showcases that more than ever. Earlier in August, JJJJound worked on two colorways of the model, a beige pair, featuring a variety of taupes and browns, and a pine green pair captured above. The green JJJJound sneaker features an entirely suede upper with hits of reflective materials on the logo and ankle. From there, the upper is met by an off white colored midsole to give it an aged look, a recurring theme within JJJJound’s catalog of products.
