When most brands introduce a silhouette or bring back a sneaker from their catalog, they tend to go all out on the marketing and design of the sneaker. But New Balance went in a different direction with the New Balance RC30. To kick off the latest sneaker offering, the brand tapped the multi-hyphenated Donald Glover with the sneakerâs official rollout. With only an Instagram post, which was an animation of what the design process for the sneaker might have looked like with rat characters, Glover and the New Balance team were able to conjure an enormous amount of hype for the release. Though the silhouette itself is brand new, the colorways for both pairs are common in their look and can be mistaken for a general release sneaker. But to Joe Grondin, who leads New Balanceâs global collaborations, the sneaker was designed to the liking of Donald Glover and his aesthetic. âNo loud colors or branding, just classic, easy-to-wear colorways of a new silhouette that fit Donaldâs style”, said Joe Grondin in an interview with GQ.
