Keep your style on point heading into 2019, as we share some ways you can incorporate more sneaker heat into your weekly wardrobe.

As a female team member of the sneaker squad here at StockX, it’s common for us to develop a serious shoe addiction being surrounded with all the latest hype. And while it hasn’t been good for my bank account, it has been great for giving my closet some new heat to pair with everyday looks. As we reflect on 2018, we can all agree that comfort is in and beauty is no longer pain. Of course we still hold a place in our hearts for heels, but women are no longer feeling the need to wear them for the sake of an outfit.

Today, you can find a fresh pair of Jordans making their way into everything from runways to errand runs and even wedding party attire. We’re heading into a territory where there isn’t an occasion sneakers aren’t appropriate… at least that’s what we’re telling ourselves. With that said, we wanted to share some ways you can incorporate more sneakers into your weekly rotation. I’m not sure whether the purpose of this blog post is to justify our splurges from 2018 or actually share some inspo, but either way, we’re going to get your wardrobe ready for 2019.

The Slight Work Flex

Fashion Designer, Danielle Guizio, shined in her Forbes “30 under 30” portrait wearing a clean pair of Air Force 1’s. A subtle jab at a previous employer who told her you had to wear heels to be taken seriously. Silently savage, in the best way. Besides, who wants to be in heels all day? Whether it’s designer sneakers or one of the classics, demand the attention of any meeting by mixing business with an impressive pair of kicks. Jordan 1 Retro Bred Toes are a guarantee to turn heads, considering they are arguably the most classic and legendary releases of all time. We’re all about making lasting impressions here.

Dress Down the Party Dress

Let’s be honest, if you’re rocking heels, you usually can only last a night out on the town as long as your feet will let you. That’s why your nightlife needs some sneakers. It’s not only comfortable but also strategic, and there’s no better way to accomplish this than to throw on a pair of fashion-forward Dad shoes with your dress. Emily Ratajkowski is a woman currently dominating this trend and also shares a favorite sneaker with us as well. The Nike M2K Tekno pulls inspiration from the Air Monarch, (the OG of Dad shoes,) and does a great job at combining the past legend with a more futuristic vibe. Not to mention there’s something about the chunky outsole that makes these go perfect with a silky dress.

Workout in Style

Whether you’re looking for active-wear or just an empowering pair of sneakers to stunt on everyone, you shouldn’t look further than the Off-White Serena 97s. Designed by Virgil Abloh for the 50th U.S. Open Tournament in 2018, the Queen Collection was created for tennis player Serena Williams. This powerful shoe was designed to portray her love for ballet and dominance on the court. Please be aware that you might shut down any workout facility by walking through the door with these on your feet.

Making Errands Chic

The saying is that life is a stage, so even those trips to Ulta and Container Store deserve shoes that can shine. Drawing inspiration from Kim Kardashian herself — a woman who can turn a McDonalds run into a full on Yeezy campaign — there’s no better sneaker to throw on for the day than a pair of 350s. Since the weekend is typically for jamming in all of the errands we can’t fit in during the workweek, you will naturally want to rock sneakers that emphasize style and comfort. It doesn’t get much comfier than the Yeezy Boost 350 V2. And feel free to pretend there are paparazzi waiting for you around the corner.

Boozy Brunch Casual

We all know how meeting your friends for brunch on a Sunday can quickly turn into bouncing around town for hours. Which is totally fine because who doesn’t love an 8pm bedtime. Everyone wins. For a day filled with multiple stops after those mimosas, go for an effortlessly cool look by throwing on your favorite vintage jeans with a pair of high fashion sneakers. I mean, you really don’t know where the day will take you or who you’ll run into. The Balenciaga Triple S, also known as the “ugly sneaker,” was a favorite amongst many women in the fashion industry in 2018, including Bella Hadid, Elsa Hosk, Rihanna and Hailey Baldwin. So embrace the ugly sneaker trend from 2018, because there’s no sign of us stopping it in 2019.

From sneakers that represent a part of basketball history, to ones that were inspired by one of the best-selling Nike models of all time – your 2019 fit game will be transformed by adding sneakers that have a story or personality. They become a powerful addition to your wardrobe and might even receive praise from passersby in the street. Don’t be afraid to take risks and find sneakers that speak to your own personality and story. And remember as we kick off 2019, stay stylish but more importantly, stay cozy.
