“Levi’s is an American Institution and is known worldwide as the benchmark of quality Denim products.”
The above quote is pulled from Supreme’s archive. The press release it comes from is dated September 12th, 2011 and it announces the release of the first-ever official collaboration between the streetwear brand and Levi’s. The archived post also announces the pieces to be released and contains a twenty-two image slideshow of lookbook and product photos. The collection marked a partnership that would be carried on into the future; since 2011, there have been ten more collaborations between the two brands (eleven in total at the time of this writing). Supreme x Levi’s FW11
Supreme’s inaugural collaborative collection with Levi’s came in the fall of 2011. The collection featured both a suede and leather trucker jacket, a denim down vest, a bell hat, two chambray work shirts, and a pair of 501 jeans. Both jackets look like something the character described in Elton John’s “Tiny Dancer” was probably wearing and the subtle details of the 501’s make them stand out just so slightly. The collection was released on September 15th, 2011.
Supreme x Levi’s FW12
The second iteration of Supreme x Levi’s came during the Fall/Winter season of 2012. Similar to the first collection, the second capsule contained a trucker jacket, shirt, and jean. This season the trucker jackets were white or black denim, though, with a soft leopard print inner lining. Instead of 501’s the jeans were a 505 and also featured a slight leopard print detail around the right pocket. The drop’s shirts were three different colored polka-dot western shirts. Supreme’s always been noted for creating compelling accessories that stand out in their collaborations. With the FW12 Levi’s collab, they delivered again with a leopard print leather belt. The collaboration released September 27, 2012.
Supreme x Levi’s FW13
After two collaborations that were rather traditional and safe, Supreme expanded their Levi’s collaboration horizon in 2013, this time releasing items in a bark camouflage print. The capsule was near all encompassing, containing a trucker jacket, overalls, a 505 jean, a denim quilted shirt, and a bell hat. This collection’s details were the real winner. The trucker jacket featured sherpa lining and the denim quilted shirt featured a camo printed inner. The capsule was released on November 29th, 2013.
Supreme x Levi’s FW15
Supreme’s FW15 edition of their annual collaboration with Levi’s was louder than that of the previous year. While 2014 featured a more traditional trucker americana look, 2015’s iteration featured a zebra print on Moleskin jackets and 505 jeans. The collaboration brought two other colorways (maroon and black) as well in both the jackets and the jeans. The collaboration released on November 5th, 2015.
Supreme x Levi’s SS16
Up until 2016, Supreme x Levi’s was a collaboration whose yearly release would come only during the Fall/Winter seasons. In 2016, the collaboration became a seasonal feature rather than a yearly one. Fittingly, their first spring collaboration featured two different floral colorways of a stonewashed denim jacket and 505 jean. While it was one of their smaller releases with Levi’s, the hype was huge. The floral capsule released on May 5th, 2016 and is available to shop on StockX now.
Supreme x Levi’s FW16
Following their SS16 release of the Floral Jacket, Supreme’s FW collaboration with Levi’s took the graphics down a notch. Once again only releasing a jacket and pair of jeans, this collaboration’s details paled down to bleaching of blue and black denim. The sherpa lined trucker jackets and 501 jean featured far more subtle details. The collaboration released on October 6th, 2016 and can be shopped on StockX here.
Supreme Levi’s FW17
For their 2017 Fall/Winter installation, Supreme x Levi’s released one of their smaller capsules. Featuring three colorways of a trucker jacket and pair of overalls, it consisted of only six items. The jackets and overalls all featured a printed snakeskin pattern and a buffalo plaid flannel inner. The purple and light blue jackets stuck out as the highlights of the release. The FW17 collaboration was released on November 9th, 2017 and can be shopped on StockX here.
