Mother’s Day is right around the corner and no matter how you mark it, there’s a reason to go all in. Whether it’s celebrating the mother figure in your life, getting a treat for yourself, or sending up thanks for the support you’ve received, Mother’s Day is a delicious moment of indulgence. We spoke to a number of Moms at StockX to find out what they’re hoping to receive – or what they’re getting themselves. There’s one thing we don’t want you to miss: Moms define themselves. This is not the time to make assumptions about style or function. Like anyone else, it’s important to ask a Mom what they want and follow their lead.
adidas Yeezy 450 Cloud White
The newest silhouette out of adidas and Yeezy turns out to be a great choice for Moms. Over the last few years, Yeezys have proven themselves to cross-gender and age barriers, and the 450s are no different. Micah S., from our Customer Service Team, picked these because “Yeezys are an incredible shoe for comfort and chasing around a two-year-old. I also enjoy the soles each of my pairs have. I love the simplicity that the Cloud Whites possess and the bounce that the soles are constructed with.” Can’t get any better than that.

One of the most highly anticipated sneakers of the last season has finally arrived and there’s no better occasion to cop than Mother’s Day. The A Ma Maniére Jordan 3s highlight everything we love about the model while remaining elevated and sophisticated. Tumbled white leather with raw edges meets grey suede, off-white tooling, and hits of maroon, for a subdued color palette that will prove to be timeless. We know these just dropped and the prices are lower than some collaborations, but don’t expect them to stay like that for long.

If you’re looking to welcome Mom into the current wave, getting her a Telfar Bag is the best way to do it. The brand has been in insanely high demand since it launched its line of vegan leather bags at reasonable price points, perhaps thanks to its progressive design, or inclusive aims, or sustainable practices. Alexandra H., a StockX mom who provides Customer Service to VIPs, picked this bag for herself. “Something about this bag specifically sparks a fashion interest,” she says. A sneaker that works for the whole family can be the perfect choice for Mother’s Day to mark your friends and relatives no matter what that dynamic looks like. Even if your Mom isn’t around anymore, a squad up of the same kicks can be a great reminder of the connection of any family, biological or chosen.
Air Jordan x Aleali May 1 High Zoom CMFT “Califia”
Aleali May’s latest collaboration with Jordan Brand is a feast for the senses. These are not for the faint of heart. Royal Blue and a rich forest green bounce off each other on the upper, creating a neck-breaking contrast that extends into the green satin featured on the sneaker’s throat. Where it gets really interesting is the swoosh, typically a leather overlay, that has been cut out of the upper revealing satin underneath. The throat of the sneaker has been extended up, making for a much higher profile, and adding just enough extra space for a chenille wings logo on the lateral ankle.

Moms aren’t all about sophistication and minimalism, sometimes a Mom wants to go all out. Melinda R., a Mom on the StockX Finance team in the UK, loves these Vans Slip-Ons in True White calling it, “an annual staple requirement… you can never have enough slip-ons.” It’s not just the ease of putting them on and taking them off, or that they’re one of the more affordable choices on the list, they’ve also been firmly in style since they were first introduced in 1966. That’s 55 years of skate style that has gone far beyond the borders of California, or the limit of the skate deck.

Micah S., a Customer Service Rep from Detroit, would pick this Gucci Matelasse Marmot bag for any Mom. Why? Because it would be a real indulgence. “The size is perfect for lipstick, your credit cards, a compact powder, and even a mirror,” Micah says. “This bag is only for you, and there’s no space for the kids to take over the bag. It’s literally designed for you. I’d gift a black one, just because it’s simple and everyone needs a black sleek bag.”

This floral pick comes from Laura L., Council for StockX. While you aren’t legally required to get Mom flowers or emulate the colors of spring, these retro runners in a bright and cheery lavender may help get you in the mood. Nike’s Daybreak was originally released in 1979 and carried a Gold Medal performance in the 1985 Olympic Marathon. Now, 36 years later, the shoes may not be the most technically progressive but they’re still a classic. A fitting parallel for Mother’s Day.
