Market Watch: 5 Things You Should Know This Week

With all the transactions happening on StockX on a daily basis, it can be overwhelming if you’re not glued to your StockX iPhone App or StockX Android App. We realize that not everyone can be paying attention all the time (though we highly encourage it), that’s why we’re pushing to have StockX on every Jumbotron in the NBA all the time. Anybody got the connect at MSG? Maybe we’ll live stream our next App update like Kanye.

Ok, enough daydreaming. Today we introduce a new series on the blog called Market Watch. Simply put, we’ll keep an eye on things happening in the market and let you know when we notice interesting stuff, major movements, soaring or tanking prices, etc. We’ll try to keep it simple and focused to just a handful of things. Hopefully this gives you some added insight or at least something slightly intelligent to read when you’re done trying to comprehend Kanye West’s latest Twitter rant.

Jordan Defining Moments Pack - Jordan 11/Jordan 6
1. Jordan Defining Moments Pack

It’s been over ten years since the Jordan Defining Moments Pack released. The 2006 release included the Jordan 6 and Jordan 11, and at the time, was unprecedented. Packs has since become an expected part of Jordan Retro releases, but 4 sets of DMPs changed hands this week. As you can see from the chart below, it’s somewhat rare that any DMP Jordan Packs change hands, let alone the handful we saw sell this week.

2. Fragment x Jordan 1

The Fragment x Jordan 1 is another Jordan Retro that has had a resurgence in attention this week. A number of pairs moved and the average sale price was up 28% from previous sales. Did we miss the memo? What caused the market movement? Maybe there was a Drake meme we missed but we haven’t seen this many pairs of Fragment 1s change hands in months.

3. Supreme x Nike Air Max 98

Supreme’s latest collaboration with Nike had the buzz we’ve come to know and love/hate from the “World Famous” brand but it seems the popular skate shop left something to be desired on their latest work. The Air Max 98 isn’t a popular model like some of the others in the Air Max line but that’s been typical of Supreme’s collabs (remember they did the Delta Force in 2004 and Air Trainers TWs in 2007). The price of the Varsity Red Supreme Air Max 98 dropped to its lowest point with an Ask below the $300 mark.

4. adidas Yeezy Boost 350 Turtledove

Yeezy, Yeezy, Yeezy, just jumped…eh well let’s not go that far. But, the adidas Yeezy Boost 350 Turtledove continues to be one of the sneakers moving the adidas market forward. Nearly a year after they originally released, the Turtledove Yeezys are selling for 781% Price Premium.

5. Nike Air More Uptempo 2016

The Nike Air More Uptempo has been released as a retro a number of times but this year there seems to be an unprecedented demand. In the two weeks or so since it released, the Air More Uptempo Retro has consistently sold for above retail, at a price premium of 33.3%, averaging $255. Almost every size is available here if you need a pair.
