The Supreme AKIRA Pill Tee was one of four short-sleeved tees released as part of a special collection between the streetwear brand and the Japanese franchise. Created by Katsuhiro Otomo, AKIRA takes place in a post-World War III world that deals with issues like anti-government terror and drugs. The latter being both government issued and created in the black market. But the drugs given had other usages besides just suppressing headaches. The original manga artwork used here shows one of the main character’s attitude towards the pills he’s taking, stating “they’re just like candy!” This attitude leads to some interesting development to his mind and body. The black and white image is added to the back of the tee with a small modification on the pill giving it the Supreme touch. On the front we see Supreme added in simple capitalized, bold font. The cardinal tee and collection as a whole released online and in most Supreme brick-and-mortar locations on November 2nd, while Japan had to wait until November 4th to get their fix.
