Katsuhiro Otomo’s original artwork was the focus of the Supreme AKIRA Syringe Tee. Otomo’s story has been an acclaimed hit since the manga started in 1982 and the movie released in 1988. The storyline focuses on two friends, Kaneda and Tetsuo, who are part of motorcycle gang in a post-World War III Japan. They are involved with a world where corruption in government, drugs and gang activity are part of daily life. The tee focuses on a panel where Tetsuo is getting an injection. He depends on drugs and pills more so than Kaneda to make it through a normal day. The manga artwork is featured on the back of the cotton slate short-sleeved tee. The horizontal piece is repeated three times. The front of the shirt has the Supreme name added on to the left chest. The tee was one of four designs made for the collection which released on the Supreme online store and locations in New York, Brooklyn, Los Angeles, London and Paris on November 2nd, 2017. Japan had to wait until November 4th to grab their Supreme AKIRA Syringe Tee.
