This article is part 3 of 8 in the series: New Year, New You

Streetwear went big in 2020. This year saw firsts on a scale never seen before, from Travis Scott working with McDonaldā€™s to Supremeā€™s release of a COVID-19 Relief Box Logo t-shirt in collaboration with Takashi Murakami. This year also held witness to the first time that a non-Supreme item was the best-selling streetwear item on StockX as Fear Of God ESSENTIALSā€™ basic logo hoodie edged out this fallā€™s long sleeve Box Logo t-shirt. The year, and the best streetwear of 2020, was full of surprises, and itā€™s our pleasure to deliver the recap for you.

Fear Of God Essentials Hoodie

Fear Of God ESSENTIALS Hoodie

Fear Of God ESSENTIALS took their brand to the next level in 2020. It wasnā€™t until July that they released their first drop of the year, but with that release, the brand started a steady stream of releases throughout the FW20 season. With over 23,000 sales since July, the Fear Of God ESSENTIALS logo hoodies claim the top spot as the best-selling streetwear piece on StockX in 2020. Released in 14 different colorways that express the full earth-tone color spectrum, this hoodie has outsold the second place Supreme Box Logo long sleeve t-shirt by more than 10,000 units. A truly uncontested win for Fear Of God ESSENTIALS could lead to an astronomical 2021 if they keep it up.

Supreme Box Logo L/S

The best-selling Supreme piece of the year finished in second place, but it was released in October in its defense. Maybe it would be the best-seller with a few extra months of sales under its belt, but for now, itā€™s going to have to settle for second. It should come as a surprise to nobody that Supremeā€™s first-ever long sleeve Box Logo t-shirt has resold over 10,000 units on StockX in less than three months. The long-awaited and highly-anticipated Supreme Box Logo has been rumored for years, and fans welcomed its release with open arms. The white t-shirt with the red Supreme Box Logo has been the most popular, reselling more than 5,000 times on its own.Ā

Travis Scott x McDonald's

Fear Of God ESSENTIALS and Supreme may have finished in first and second place in terms of volume, but our third place streetwear piece definitely takes the cake for the year’s biggest cultural moment. The Travis Scott and McDonaldā€™s collaboration broke the internet, and their red Crew T-shirt has become one of the best-selling streetwear pieces on StockX. The minimal red Crew T-shirts have resold more than 8,000 units, making it the best-selling single colorway on the platform. Many argue that other than sales volume, this collaboration was the biggest and best of 2020, and if weā€™re honest, itā€™s hard to disagree.

Supreme Cross Box Logo Hooded Sweatshirt Black

Supreme Cross Box Logo Hoodie

We could easily call 2020 the year of the Supreme Box Logo. The streetwear brand broke all the rules this year, dropping Box Logos that broke the mold four separate times in 2020. Perhaps the most surprising Box Logo modification of the season came with Supremeā€™s FW20 lookbook, which led with a photo of Sage Elesser wearing a grey hoodie with two logos on it. The Cross Box Logo is the first Supreme Box Logo to feature two logos vertically and horizontally on its chest. The piece was met with mixed reviews but has still been one of the best-selling streetwear items on StockX since its release. With nearly 10,000 sales in less than a month, this may end up being the biggest Supreme piece of the year; we just donā€™t have the definitive data to support that yet. The Supreme Cross Box Logo has also been the most accessible box logo hoodie to ever trade on StockX with an average resale price of less than $350 USD. Surprisingly, this hoodie release’s best-selling colorway has not been the grey and red version but the black, which has traded over 2,500 units.

Supreme Motion Logo Hoodie

Supreme Motion Logo T-shirt

The Motion Logo is one of several beloved heritage logos that the streetwear brand resurrected in 2020, and its resale volumes show that itā€™s still a fan favorite. Drawing its inspiration from the opening title scene of the 1990 mob-movie Goodfellas, its most recent release was in 2016. The Supreme Motion Logo was released on hoodies, t-shirts, and beanies. The t-shirts have been the best seller. In the black colorway alone, this t-shirt resold over 2,200 units. Across all colorways, the Supreme Motion Logo racked up 7,500 sales. If youā€™re looking for a classic Supreme logo t-shirt but donā€™t want to shell out a Benjamin for a Box Logo, the Motion Logo is just right for you.

Supreme Tupac T-shirt

Supreme Tupac Hologram T-shirt

A Supreme Tupac T-shirt had been rumored for several years, so it was only right that this t-shirt would headline the SS20 Week 1 release. The Supreme Tupac Hologram T-shirt, which features an image of Tupacā€™s 2012 Coachella Hologram performance, led SS20 Week 1 with the most sales on StockX. Such strong performance is often an indicator that weā€™ve got a new classic design on our hands, and in this case, thatā€™s probably the truth. Since its release in February, this t-shirt has racked up over 7,000 sales on StockX. It may not be the photo t-shirt everyone was hoping for, but itā€™s still an instant classic.

Anti Social Social Club Kkoch T-shirt

Anti Social Social Club Kkoch T-shirt

As crazy as it may seem, Anti Social Social Club has only been available on StockX for just over a year. It didnā€™t take long for the proudly emotionally-unavailable brand to grow its wings and become one of the most popular categories on StockX. Anti Social Social Clubā€™s collaborative t-shirt with Fragment led the charge, but it was their Kkoch T-shirt, featuring the brandā€™s popular logo covered in flowers, that became the best-selling ASSC piece of 2020. With over 7,000 sales across just two colorways, this incredibly popular t-shirt has now been certified as one of the best-selling t-shirts on StockX.

Supreme Covid T-shirt

Supreme Takashi Murakami COVID-19 Relief T-shirt

Supreme released a lot of new Box Logos in 2020. They dropped a never-before-seen silhouette and constructed a new shape of Box Logo during the FW20 season, but they did something even more exciting in SS20. Right in the middle of the nationwide stay-at-home order, Supreme partnered with art-world sweetheart Takashi Murakami to release a collaborative COVID-19 Relief Box Logo for charity. The t-shirt features a traditional Supreme Box Logo filled in with Murakamiā€™s 2013 artwork, Skulls and Flowers Red. Since its release, this t-shirt has gone on to resell nearly 5,000 units at an average price of over $600 USD.

Anti Social Social Club Kkoch Hoodie

Anti Social Social Clubā€™s Kkoch Design was popular in 2020, earning the brand two spots in the top 10. While the flower-covered t-shirts may have sold in higher volumes, the Anti Social Social Club Kkoch Hoodie still did numbers, reselling more than 4,000 times in a single colorway. Naturally, this hoodie also brings with it a higher resale value, trading at $129 USD on average, more than double that of the t-shirts. If youā€™re looking for the right entry-level piece to get into Anti Social Social Club, this is absolutely the one.

Supreme Shop T-shirt

Supreme Shop T-shirt

Though Supreme didnā€™t grab first place in 2020, they were the brand with the most spots inside the top 10. It wasnā€™t all Box Logos and Goodfellas’ nods, though, as the Supreme Shop T-shirt cracked the top 10 best-selling streetwear pieces of the year by a hair. This t-shirt dropped alongside the Tupac Hologram T-shirt as a part of Supreme SS20 Week One and followed up the Tupac tee nicely as a second best-selling t-shirt. This t-shirt features a Supreme logo on the chest in a font reminiscent of the brandā€™s popular Classic Logo but without the macron above the “e.” Filling out the last spot in the top 10, this t-shirt has been sold on StockX over 5,500 times across eight colorways.

Stussy x Nike Crewneck

Nike x Stussy NRG BR Crewneck

If this list were about our favorite streetwear collaborations of 2020, Stussy x Nike wouldā€™ve been close to the top. Stussy had a banner year in 2020, collaborating with Nike on three different occasions and several other brands throughout the year. This Stussy x Nike Crewneck from their first drop does an excellent job encapsulating the collaboration’s draw. Since its release in March, more than 2,000 of these crewnecks have been sold on StockX and whatā€™s even more interesting is whatā€™s happened with the price. For the first three months after its release, this collaborative sweatshirt was trading consistently at around $150 USD, $50 USD higher than its retail price. But sometime in July, the price began to rise, and by the end of August, the average resale value of this crewneck was over $250 USD. Now, as we close out the year, this crewneck is a streetwear grail thatā€™s shown just how valuable it really is on the sales charts.

Off-White x Jordan Brand

Off-White x Jordan Brand T-shirt

Off-White and Jordan Brand have had a pretty big year as far as the Sneaker world goes, and they were supposed to go off in terms of apparel as well. Unfortunately, we didnā€™t end up seeing as much Off-White x Jordan apparel as we hoped we would, but what we did see was really good. As a part of Nikeā€™s 2020 NBA All-Star Weekend activation in Chicago earlier this year, Virgil Abloh delivered a small capsule with Jordan, including a t-shirt, hoodie, jacket, pants, and boiler suit alongside his first Jordan 5. Each item featured a collaborative Off-White x Jordan Brand Diag Logo on the back, and the t-shirt has since become one of the best collaborative streetwear pieces of the year. This t-shirt has resold on StockX over 2,600 times, and if youā€™re looking for the perfect basketball-inspired Off-White t-shirt to wear while watching the NBA this season, you’ve found it.
