Seiko has a deep back catalog from which to draw inspiration for their modern dive watches, and they\u2019ve done so to great effect in recent years. Their latest example comes in the form of the Prospex SLA25, a recreation of a model first shown in 1968. When we say recreation, we mean you\u2019d have a hard time telling the two apart. They are that close on execution. Inside is a different story, as you\u2019d imagine. Let\u2019s take a closer look. <\/span><\/p>\n

The SLA25 is based on the first hi-beat diver to ever be released in 1968. The original was the first watch to feature a 10-beat high precision automatic caliber, a one-piece structure, screw-down protection crown and unidirectional rotating bezel. The latest iteration, the SLA25, is built in a similar manner, with a single piece body and a high beat caliber, though with the latest model, that movement is the caliber 8L55, replete with far more modern bells and whistles. The movement is constructed by Seiko\u2019s master watchmakers in the Shizukuishi Watch Studio in Morioka in the north of Japan. <\/span><\/p>\n
