\n<\/a>Curating a watch collection is no easy task, one that lasts for life, even less so. A budget of $10,000 to build such a collection, and one that will keep you reasonably content, will serve as the guardrails for this thought exercise. There are multiple routes afforded to us with our $10k ceiling, and while that might sound like a lot of money, and therefore an easy task, things get challenging quick in light of the \u201cfor life\u201d caveat. Let\u2019s jump in and see where we end up.<\/p>\n

The first route we\u2019ll consider is looking at the nicest single watch we can finagle for $10k. In the current market, this places us in ceramic Submariner<\/a> territory (with<\/a>, or without date<\/a>), as well as newer GMT-Master II<\/a> models, such as the Batman<\/a>, or even the all black bezel<\/a>. If you\u2019re not a Rolex fan, there is also the Omega Speedmaster \u201cSpeedyTuesday<\/a>\u201d limited edition watch, which is trading slightly south of $10k at the moment, and is a watch we truly love. There are also great options from the likes of IWC<\/a>, JLC<\/a>, and Blancpain<\/a> in this realm, none of which we\u2019d kick out of the watch box. But, keep in mind, this is a watch you\u2019ll be wearing day in, day out, and it will come to define your sense of style, in a way. Not a bad thing, if you can pull it off.<\/p>\n

If you can\u2019t see yourself living with a single watch for the rest of your days, the two watch option might be a better solution. But it\u2019s not that simple, is it? Do you opt for the high-low option, or split things right down the middle with a pair of $5k watches? This is more art than science, and this is how we\u2019d roll on 2 watches with $10k to burn. First up, the high-low, in which case we\u2019d start with last generation\u2019s steel \u201cPepsi\u201d bezel GMT<\/a>, a classic in its own right, and finish it with a Seiko Prospex SRPC44<\/a>. If done right, you\u2019ll have enough left over for a nice bottle of vino (a \u201895 Abreu Cab, perhaps?). Splitting things down the middle is a bit trickier, but we like the classic hand-wound Omega Speedmaster<\/a> and a Rolex Oyster Perpetual 39 with the grape dial<\/a>. Yeah, it’s like that.<\/p>\n

Lastly, if you\u2019re looking to get the most variety for your hard earned dollar, there are endless combinations you could have fun with inside of $10k. Our quick take would net us a Tudor Heritage Chronograph<\/a>, a JLC Master Control Date<\/a>, an Oris Chronoris<\/a>, and a Seiko Turtle<\/a> for good measure.<\/p>\n
