{"id":2751,"date":"2015-06-30T23:30:15","date_gmt":"2015-07-01T03:30:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/stockx.com\/sneaker-blog\/?p=2751"},"modified":"2016-04-29T12:31:20","modified_gmt":"2016-04-29T16:31:20","slug":"shattered-yeezy-dreams","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stockx.com\/news\/shattered-yeezy-dreams\/","title":{"rendered":"Shattered Yeezy Dreams&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8230;and other witty ways of saying you didn&#8217;t cop nuthin&#8217; this past weekend. \u00a0Or did you?<\/p>\n<p>True story: \u00a0One of our volunteers\u00a0bought a pair of Shattered Backboards last week off ISS for six hundred bones. \u00a0Today he came by wearing them, but with a tear in his eye. \u00a0He makes $11 an hour as an intern at a big company . . . he&#8217;ll have to work an extra twelve-and-half hours to make up the $135 he could&#8217;ve saved if he had just waited &#8217;til Sunday to cop. \u00a0In his defense, pre-sales sold\u00a0for as much as $1135 on eBay, with 19 pairs selling for more than the $600 he paid. \u00a0Also, the leather is pretty nice.<\/p>\n<p>Moral of the story: \u00a0We don&#8217;t do predictive analytics. \u00a0But we do do really f*ckin&#8217; good post-script diagnostics. On average then, resellers are almost <em>always<\/em> asking more than market. \u00a0But as soon as someone\u00a0agrees to pay it, that <em>becomes<\/em>\u00a0market. \u00a0And so the next guy asks more. \u00a0And the cycle continues. \u00a0That&#8217;s how prices increase.<\/p>\n<p>For the Yeezy Boost Low we can see this starting to happen already:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/images-wp.stockx.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/Yeezy-350-asking.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"StockX Image\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2757\" src=\"https:\/\/images-wp.stockx.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/Yeezy-350-asking.jpg\" alt=\"Yeezy 350 asking\" width=\"960\" height=\"720\" srcset=\"https:\/\/images-wp.stockx.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/Yeezy-350-asking.jpg 960w, https:\/\/images-wp.stockx.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/Yeezy-350-asking-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Key Insights<\/strong><\/span><strong>:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Resellers asking $73 over market might feel high, but it&#8217;s only an 8% premium<\/li>\n<li>In the week leading up to release, resellers knew market was going to $900 and were asking almost that, but buyers weren&#8217;t biting. \u00a0Average sales price during that week was only $762 &#8211; 15% less than asking prices.<\/li>\n<li>But as soon as launch hit, every Tom, Dick and Hypebeast needed their Yeezy, and prices started to climb<\/li>\n<li>Resellers continued to raise asking price about 6% a day, and will likely continue to do so for at least a little while. \u00a0The question we all want to know, of course, is when will it stop?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>What do you think? \u00a0Did these releases perform as expected?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&#8230;and other witty ways of saying you didn&#8217;t cop nuthin&#8217; this past weekend. \u00a0Or did you?
