href=\"http:\/\/var\/app\/current\/news-tmp-0801.complex.com\/author\/nick-engvall\" rel=\"author\">Nick Engvall<\/a> published a nice post at Complex titled:\u00a0 &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/var\/app\/current\/news-tmp-0801.complex.com\/sneakers\/2013\/09\/things-sneakerheads-want-but-cant-get\/price-guide\" target=\"_blank\">10 Things Sneakerheads Want But Can&#8217;t Get<\/a>&#8220;.\u00a0 Number 10 was &#8220;An official price guide to vintage sneakers&#8221; in which they asked when someone is gonna write one.<\/p>\n<p>Well, Russ and Nick (and every other sneakerhead), here ya go:<\/p>\n<p>For a while now we&#8217;ve been building a nice foundation of sneakerheaddata, waiting for the right time to publish a comprehensive sneaker guide.\u00a0 With the year just ending and Campless now tracking 840 sneakers, that time is now.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>Why is this price guide better than previous attempts?\u00a0 Because The Campless Sneaker Price Guide is based 100% on data.\u00a0 Over 8 million data points, in fact.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A few notes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Prices are calculated from eBay listings which ended in a sale for deadstock, men&#8217;s sneakers during the 2013 calendar year.<\/li>\n<li>We analyzed over 8 million auctions to find the 425,743 listings that were relevant and used to calculate average deadstock price for these 840 sneakers.<\/li>\n<li>All prices are listed in U.S. dollars, rounded to the nearest dollar.<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;\/N&#8221; means we track this sneaker but there were no DS men&#8217;s pairs sold on eBay in 2013.<\/li>\n<li>If a sneaker is not listed, we don&#8217;t track it (yet).<\/li>\n<li>For more information about our data analysis methodology and process, including how we We&#8217;ll let you draw your own conclusions, but one thing we should state up front is that on the whole, the prices might seem a bit lower than you&#8217;d expect.\u00a0 That was our first reaction, as well.\u00a0 But as we explained in an <a href=\"http:\/\/sneakerheaddata.wordpress.com\/2013\/09\/03\/analysis-buying-sneakers-on-ebay\/\" target=\"_blank\">earlier post<\/a> analyzing optimal eBay strategies, the best deals disappear the quickest.\u00a0 This means that, at any given time, the majority of the auctions you see on eBay are priced above the average.\u00a0 And once you&#8217;ve seen a few pages of stale digital inventory you start to internalize a certain price.\u00a0 Combine that with inflated prices at Flight Club due to the commission structure, and it&#8217;s easy to understand why the below prices seem low.\u00a0 But they&#8217;re not.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s the beauty of what Campless does.\u00a0 We use data to get to the true value of a sneaker.\u00a0 Russ and Nick questioned whether that even exists (&#8220;a sneaker&#8217;s true value &#8211; whatever that is&#8221;).\u00a0 Our response is that four hundred and twenty five thousand
