Boogie recently visited Detroit on his “Everything’s for Sale” tour in support of his debut album<\/a> for Shady Records. StockX caught up with the Compton rapper for this installment of “That’s 5.”<\/p>\n

The following interview has been lightly edited for clarity and length.<\/em><\/p>\n

What Influences You?<\/h2>\n

I started getting influenced by music in church in middle school. That’s when I started doing music when I was put into the church choir. I started doing gospel rap, but that shit ended up weak. So I started doing regular rap talking about my life and kept it going from there.<\/p>\n

Most overrated?<\/h2>\n

Something overrated? Damn, that’s a good question. Blogs. Blogs, and lists, and shit, that’s what’s overrated. I feel like it’s all about touching the people that really connect to you. It’s building from that, and nobody can define what’s popping, especially someone typing shit up on the internet that’s not even from where we’re from.<\/p>\n

Most underrated?<\/h2>\n

I feel like there’s a power that we all have as artists. Every artist doesn’t know how powerful the tools we all have are. For example, Instagram, if you use it right, you don’t need no label.<\/p>\n

What are you most excited about, right now?<\/h2>\n

I’m excited about being on tour. I’m excited about going to the strip club. I’m excited about going to the casino where I’m trying to hit and win some money.<\/p>\n

What’s next for you?<\/h2>\n

After this tour, I’m trying to drop another project this summer.<\/p>\n

Bonus Question: Was that 5?<\/h2>\n
