Nike Air Force 1 High

While the Nike Air Force 1 Low and Mid models have enjoyed more popularity over the last 40-plus years, it’s the "Nike Air Force 1 High" that gave the AF1 its start back in the early 1980s. When Nike designer Bruce Kilgore was putting together plans for the original Air Force, he drew inspiration from hiking boots, which helps explain why the AF1 was only available in a high-top version at first. The AF1 Low and Mid versions would come later and attract a lot of extra attention for the sneaker, but the AF1 High continues to be the go-to in many sneaker circles.

The "Nike AF1 High" is still available in many of the colorways that it was produced in when it was first released. The Nike Air Force 1 High Triple Black is a great example of this. But the AF1 High is also available in so many other colorways that have been introduced over time, such as the AF1 High Nordic Christmas (2020).

Nike has also used the Nike AF1 High silhouette to create a long list of other sneakers and even boots that have clearly been inspired by it. The Nike Air Force 1 High Boot NN Dark Smoke Grey and the Nike Air Force 1 Utility 2.0 Fossil Stone (Women's) both fall into this category. A shoe like the AF1 High Gore-Tex Boot Flax does, too.
