Nike Basketball Hyperdunk

Nike first introduced its original Nike Basketball Hyperdunk sneaker in 2008 with none other than Kobe Bryant leading the charge. Kobe praised the Hyperdunk, which weighed just 13 ounces and was almost 20% lighter than the average Nike Basketball shoe, and he said it gave him a "real advantage" on the court. Nike may not have realized it back then, but the company was releasing a sneaker that would stand the test of time, despite being reinvented over and over again in the years to come.

Nike developed not one but two new types of technology for the Nike Basketball Hyperdunk sneaker. There was Flywire technology in it that made it very strong and durable without adding much weight. There was also Lunarlite foam inside that offered comfort and responsiveness on the court while adding little to the sneaker in terms of weight. These forms of technology quickly turned the Hyperdunk into a coveted sneaker among both basketball players and sneaker collectors alike.

Nike made the most of the original Nike Basketball Hyperdunk sneaker by releasing it in a variety of colorways, like the Nike Hyperdunk 08 United We Rise (2008). But the company also got back to work and continued to develop the Hyperdunk so that it would remain relevant and appealing. It would eventually lead to other notable Hyperdunk sneakers, such as the Nike Hyperdunk 2011 Blake Griffin, the Nike Hyperdunk 2016 Flyknit Unlimited, and the Nike Hyperdunk X Black White. The Hyperdunk has essentially become a staple of the Nike Basketball lineup of sneakers.
