How do I ship dangerous goods?

Certain items on StockX are classified as Dangerous Goods by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and require additional shipping steps. Dangerous Goods are defined as any item containing 3 or more lithium ion batteries under 100W, such as Nintendo Switch consoles and certain gaming laptops. Dangerous Goods can only be bought and sold within the United States.

Before you begin
Print the StockX-provided Lithium Ion Battery Handling Mark in color with the Red Line present before packing your item. UPS will not accept packages where the mark is missing, printed without color, or obstructed.

Please note: StockX is not responsible for packages that are improperly packaged.

Packaging and drop-off steps
  1. Place your invoice inside the box or padded envelope.
  2. Place the box or padded envelope into a shipping box no more than 2 inches (5 cm) larger than your item on each side. Remove all pre-existing hazardous materials warnings, labels, and stickers from the outer shipping box. The outer box must meet IATA construction guidelines: strong, rigid packaging capable of passing a 1.2-meter drop test.
  3. Use bubble wrap or packing paper to secure your item inside the shipping box.
  4. Seal the package across the side flaps and seams on the top and bottom using the 6-strip H-method with 2-inch or wider packing tape. Do not use masking tape, cellophane tape, duct tape, string, or paper over-wrap.
  5. Attach the StockX-provided UPS shipping label to the outside of the shipping box, leaving space for the Lithium Ion Battery Handling Mark.
  6. Attach the Lithium Ion Battery Handling Mark to the same side of the shipping box as the UPS shipping label. The mark must be uncovered and free from obstruction.
  7. Drop off your sealed package at an authorized UPS location.
