Tax and 1099 Information for US sellers

US sellers on StockX may receive a federal Form 1099-K based on their 2025 sales activity. For the 2025 tax year, StockX is required to issue a Form 1099-K if a seller's gross payments meet or exceed $20,000 and the seller completes 200 or more transactions. Individual state reporting thresholds may differ; check your state's government website for state-specific requirements.

Federal threshold for 2025
A Form 1099-K will be issued if your gross payments on StockX meet or exceed $20,000 and you complete 200 or more transactions in 2025. The form will be available beginning January 31, 2026. Sellers under the federal threshold will not receive a Form 1099-K from StockX.

Please note: Form 1099-K in Hyperwallet cannot be accessed via mobile web or the StockX app. Log in to your account from a desktop browser to access and download your form.

How to submit your Tax Identification Number
Sellers who meet or exceed the 2025 threshold must submit their Tax Identification Number into their Hyperwallet payout portal to generate a complete Form 1099-K as required by state and federal tax laws. A Tax Identification Number is typically a Social Security Number for individuals or an Employer Identification Number for businesses.
  1. Log in to your StockX account.
  2. Navigate to the Wallet tab.
  3. Under "Sales and Payout," click "Edit." You will be directed to your Hyperwallet payout portal in a new tab.
  4. Follow the prompts in the payout portal to submit your Tax Identification Number.

Please note: Your personal information in your payout portal must match your tax records. You can view and edit your personal details in the Settings tab within your payout portal. Tax Identification Number verification is mandatory for eligible sellers and will affect certain payout functionality.

If you meet the 2025 reporting requirements, StockX will send your 1099-K by email at the beginning of each calendar year. The same information will be reported to the Internal Revenue Service and applicable state tax agencies.

The following questions and answers are for informational purposes only. For questions about your specific tax situation, consult a tax advisor.

What do I do if I need to make changes to my 1099-K?
Any corrections will be handled and submitted to the Internal Revenue Service by March 31, 2026. To ensure your information is reflected accurately, any updates must be submitted by March 15, 2026.

What do I do if I fail my Tax Identification Number verification?
Return to your Hyperwallet account and update your personal information so it matches your Internal Revenue Service tax records exactly, then remove and re-enter your Tax Identification Number to restart the verification process. All fields are case-sensitive.

Will I receive a Form 1099-K for items I sell on StockX?
The Internal Revenue Service and some state tax authorities may require StockX to report amounts received from selling on StockX. StockX is generally required to file a Form 1099-K with the Internal Revenue Service if your gross payments total $20,000 or more and you complete more than 200 transactions in 2025. Many states also require reporting when a seller reaches $600 in transactions, though thresholds vary by state. Once you complete Tax Identification Number verification and meet the qualifications, you will receive a PDF of your Form 1099-K by email by January 31, 2026. The form is also accessible within your StockX account.

What information will I be required to provide?
StockX has partnered with Hyperwallet (a PayPal company) to collect required taxpayer information for 1099 reporting. Accepted Tax Identification Numbers include a Social Security Number or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number for individuals, or an Employer Identification Number for businesses. Ensure your legal name matches the name you use for tax purposes and that all fields are entered accurately. StockX will never request this information over the phone or by email. If you reach the 2025 thresholds but do not provide your taxpayer information, Hyperwallet will hold your funds until the information is submitted.

How will my information be handled?
Once you log in and submit your taxpayer information on the secure payout management platform powered by Hyperwallet (a PayPal company), your information is submitted to the Internal Revenue Service for verification. Hyperwallet maintains your taxpayer information in a secure database. If you meet the reporting threshold, Hyperwallet will provide a copy of your Form 1099-K by January 31 of the following year. When required by state law, StockX will also provide applicable state forms.

When will I receive a copy of my 1099-K?
StockX will generally provide an electronic copy of your Form 1099-K by January 31 of the following year, available in your Hyperwallet portal or emailed directly via an encrypted link. If you do not reach the federal threshold for 2025, you will not receive a federal Form 1099-K from StockX. State reporting requirements and filing timelines may differ, and if applicable, a state Form 1099-K will be available in your Hyperwallet portal.

How will I know if I reached the 2025 threshold?
Once you reach 200 transactions and $20,000 in gross sales, a prompt will appear in your payout portal asking you to submit your taxpayer information. If you reach the threshold but do not submit your taxpayer information, Hyperwallet will hold your payouts until you complete this step.

How does StockX calculate the gross amount of my transactions?
StockX includes the gross amount of all reportable transactions completed during the calendar year. The gross amount is the total payout amount of each sale made on StockX.

What if I have more than one StockX account?
Each account has a unique identifier, so you will need to submit your taxpayer information via your Hyperwallet payout portal for each account separately. You will receive only one Form 1099-K per Tax Identification Number.

I'm not a US citizen. Am I subject to these requirements?
Earnings for sellers within the United States are subject to Form 1099-K reporting requirements. If you believe you should not be taxed by the US government and have documentation to support this, contact StockX Customer Service to update your account.

I'm under 18. Am I subject to these requirements?
Per StockX Terms and Conditions, StockX does not allow minors to create a payout account in their own name. A minor's parent or legal guardian must set up payout information and is therefore subject to these 1099 requirements.
