Why am I unable to place an Ask?

Being unable to place an Ask is typically caused by a missing or invalid payment method, an account hold, identity verification requirements, a flagged Ask, product restrictions, or reaching your Seller Limits. Review the sections below to identify the cause and how to resolve it.

Invalid or missing payment method
Selling on StockX requires a valid credit or debit card on file. If a card is missing or invalid, you will receive a "CC Authorization Failed" error. To update your payment information, go to the Settings section of your account in a web browser. StockX uses authorization charges to periodically confirm your payment method. If a card is removed while you have active Asks on StockX, those Asks may become inactive. Once you have added a valid payment method, reactivate your Asks by adjusting the Ask price or relisting the item.

Account hold
StockX requires all Asks and Offers on the platform to be genuine and active. As a precaution, new seller accounts may be placed under a temporary hold if the number of pending sales exceeds StockX’s Seller Limits before those sales have passed verification and reached buyers.

During a hold, you can still navigate StockX, but you will not be able to place Asks or Offers. Once all pending sales are completed, full selling access will be restored.

Please note: high-value items may require additional processing time before your account is fully reinstated.

Blocked from selling
After multiple unsuccessful sales in violation of StockX's policies, your account may be permanently blocked from selling on StockX. Existing Asks are removed, and you will not be able to create new Asks. Review the Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy for more information.

You can continue selling through Flex, a program on the Verified Marketplace where eligible sellers can store, list, and sell items using StockX Pro. Once a sale is complete, StockX fulfills the order directly to buyers with expedited shipping. Learn more: Flex Program

First-time seller verification
First-time sellers must verify their identity before selling on StockX. After placing your first Ask, you will be prompted to verify basic account information. Once verification is completed successfully, you will be able to sell on StockX.

If identity verification is unsuccessful, your account's selling ability will be placed on hold until a successful verification is completed. To verify your government-issued ID, go to your StockX Account > Profile > Verify ID and complete the verification form. Please note: You may not be able to attempt identity verification again.

Flagged Ask
All Ask attempts are reviewed by StockX's risk prevention systems across multiple data points. If an Ask is flagged, you may be unable to place it. Flagged Asks become less common as you build account history on StockX. If you receive an error, update your account details as instructed in the error message and attempt to place the Ask again.

Product restrictions
StockX places selling restrictions on certain products to protect the integrity of the marketplace. These restrictions are subject to change.

Seller Limits
Based on your Seller Level, you may be unable to list an item if you have reached the maximum threshold for live Asks and pending orders, the individual item value, or the cumulative value of your current Asks and pending sales. Learn more: What are the Seller Limits on StockX?
