Meduza is the Italian DJ and production trio behind two of 2019’s biggest dance hits: ‘Piece Of Your Heart’ and ’Lose Control‘. The trio consists of Milan natives Matt Madwill, Simon de Jano and Luke Degree, who are leading the charge in bringing melodic, energetic house back to mainstream radio. Their singles have been certified Gold, Multi-Diamond, and Platinum globally, with their breakthrough single, ‘Piece of Your Heart’, being nominated for a Grammy for Best Dance Recording.
We sat down with the musical powerhouse to talk about their relationship with charts and their next remixes for the latest instalment of ‘That’s 5’.
What influences you?
We grew up with influences from different genres like hip-hop, jazz and rock even though all of us have always had a big house background. Right now, we really like The Weeknd and Eric Prydz.
What’s the most overrated?
The most overrated thing is the charts that are built without any valid criteria or comparison and decide who’s the hottest artist or song.
What’s the most underrated?
Knowing the music is underrated when you start your producer career, you can be a genius even without the basics, but in 90% of the cases, the real difference is made by who knows the musical chords and the melodies.
What are you most excited about, right now?
We are looking forward to starting again our tour. With this global pandemic, we are experiencing a very sad and touchy historic moment, we hope it will finish soon.
What’s next for you?
We are taking advantage of this time to work on new music, both club and radio, and we have a couple of remixes coming out soon.
