2021 was a huge year for streetwear. Significant collections released at nearly every point in the year, ranging from the official and long-awaited delivery of the Yeezy x GAP partnership to the release of more new Supreme Box Logo T-shirts than ever before. While the year may have had its ups and downs, 2021 was all gas and no brakes when it came to apparel releases. Follow along with us as we take a look at the Best Apparel to be released in 2021.

Supreme Milan Box Logo Tee

Supreme started the year off with a bang, delivering a KAWS collaboration in Week 1 of Spring/Summer 2021. From that point forward, Supreme delivered nothing but bangers for the rest of the season, and one of those came in the form of the year’s first new Store Opening Box Logo T-shirt. For their first new location of the 2021 calendar year, Supreme went to Milan. The Supreme Milan Box Logo T-shirt released exclusively at the Milan location’s opening with no online availability. Supreme’s Milan T-Shirt stands out from store opening t-shirts of the past as it features a colorful, detailed graphic of Leonardo Da Vinci’s The Last Supper inside the Box Logo. This T-shirt is one of the most popular Supreme pieces to release in 2021 and due to its extremely limited nature, it sells for the highest resale price of any Box Logo made available this year.

Yeezy x Gap Hoodie

Yeezy x GAP’s partnership is finally underway. After being announced in June of 2020, it took more than a year for fans to actually get any apparel from the collection in hand. So far, we’ve seen the official release of just two apparel items and it’s expected that full collections will be made available starting next year. Of the two Yeezy x GAP pieces to release this year, the Hoodie is by far the most popular. Released in six different colors, the Yeezy x GAP Hoodie is made from a double-layered cotton material that makes it extremely thick and heavy. Fit-wise, the hoodie is extremely cropped, making it almost entirely necessary to build it into your look as a layering piece. The blue colorway of the Yeezy x GAP Hoodie is the most popular so far and it’s been the best-selling hoodie on StockX by far since its release in September.

Supreme Tiffany & Co. Box Logo Tee

While Supreme’s Milan Box Logo T-shirt was massively popular, it’s highly questionable whether or not it was the best Box Logo of the year. The primary challenger emerged in November in the form of the collaborative Supreme x Tiffany & Co. Box Logo T-shirt. This shirt was released as a part of a small collaborative capsule between the two legendary New York brands. Supreme and Tiffany & Co.’s collaborative T-shirt combines the two labels’ most iconic motifs, creating a Tiffany Blue version of the white Box Logo T-shirt. As far as total sales are concerned, the Supreme x Tiffany & Co. Box Logo T-shirt has the Milan Box Logo beat, more than tripling it in sales numbers. That number is drastically affected by the fact that Supreme’s T-shirt with Tiffany & Co. is far more affordable than its Leonardo Da Vinci-inspired counterpart, which trades for nearly $150 more on average. Regardless, the Supreme x Tiffany & Co. collaboration will go down as the streetwear brand’s most significant partnership of the year and this t-shirt will be that release’s most iconic piece.

Fear of God Essentials Pull-Over Hoodie (SS21)

Last year, Fear of God Essentials blew us away with the popularity of their elevated basics. The brand’s black hoodie was the most popular apparel item on StockX in 2020 by a long shot and in 2021, Fear of God Essentials has returned for that mantle. This year, the most popular apparel item to release in 2021 was the Buttercream colorway of Fear of God Essentials’ Pull-Over Hoodie. Differing in design slightly from last year, the 2021 version of the Fear of God Essentials Hoodie features no logos on the front, with two rubberized logos on its back. At just over 10,000 units sold on StockX since its release in May, Fear of God Essentials has maintained its place atop the throne when it comes to the best-selling apparel of the year.

Supreme Box Logo Hooded Sweatshirt (FW21)

Supreme released some truly significant Box Logos in 2021. Though most don’t officially consider it a Box Logo, the brand started the year off with the release of the KAWS Chalk Logo Hoodie, which features a KAWS-drawn Supreme Logo on its chest. Later in Spring/Summer 2021, the brand dropped its popular Milan Store Opening T-shirt and collaborative Box Logos with Italian luxury brand, Emilio Pucci. When Fall/Winter 2021 rolled around, Supreme maintained the heat, delivering their collaboration with Tiffany & Co. and a store opening Box Logo for their new Berlin store. Just a few weeks ago, Supreme delivered their final Box Logo release of 2021, which featured the delivery of traditional Box Logo Hoodies. The hoodies were released in nine different colors and featured the brand’s classic Supreme Box Logo embroidered on its chest. This release carried with it an air of significance as it was Supreme’s first time releasing its traditional Box Logo design since the Fall/Winter season of 2017. Since their release, the hoodies have been some of the most popular apparel items on StockX.

Gucci x The North Face Print Jacket

Gucci’s collaborative collection with The North Face was announced in late 2020, and our first look at any pieces from that collection came courtesy of ASAP Rocky. The hip-hop artist was spotted and photographed out and about, wearing what has now become the collection’s most popular jacket. The outerwear piece was officially dubbed the Gucci x The North Face Print Jacket and has become emblematic of the collection since its release. It features down fill and padding with a beige Gucci GG monogram print covering the entirety of the jacket’s exterior. On the left chest is a Gucci x The North Face Web Logo, which combines the two brand names into one extended brand mark. This particular jacket was released as a part of the two brands’ first collaborative delivery, which took place in January of this year. Since then, Gucci and The North Face have released part two of their collection, which was made available in November.

Chrome Hearts x Drake Girls Love Chrome Hoodie

For those who’ve been following Drake’s 2021 calendar year closely, it’s been quite the rollercoaster ride. After announcing that he would be delaying his then-forthcoming album, Certified Lover Boy, at the beginning of the year, the artist dropped a short EP in March. Alongside that release, Drake announced that he would be dropping merchandise for his upcoming album with his favorite brand other than Nike, Chrome Hearts. Their collaborative collection was made available exclusively in Miami and was extremely limited. The release featured individually hand-washed and dyed hoodies in four different colors and one colorway of vintage Levi’s Jeans. The light blue Drake x Chrome Hearts Hoodie features bright yellow Chrome Hearts and Drake branding on both the front and back.

Eric Emanuel EE Basic Short

Eric Emanuel’s popular EE Basic Shorts were the must-have piece of the 2021 summer season. The often colorful and pattern-adorned polyester mesh shorts were everywhere and as a brand, Eric Emanuel saw explosive growth on StockX. This Antique White / Yellow / Brown pair was one of the more popular colorways, despite its lack of bright colors or wild patterns. The polyester mesh material was delivered in this cream-like antique white color and features Eric Emanuel’s signature EE logo in yellow and brown on the left leg. Though we currently find ourselves stranded in the cold dead of winter, the Eric Emanuel EE Basic Short is sure to be a massively popular brand again when the weather begins to warm.

Gallery Dept. Logo Trucker Hat

Gallery Dept. had a major moment in 2021. While this year wasn’t the brand’s debut or inception, it was a significant turning point for the brand, which became a household name for the who’s who of streetwear. Shockingly, Gallery Dept. made a conscious decision to close its doors at the very height of their popularity. This announcement was made in September of this year and marks the official end of the Gallery Dept. project, though it’s unclear whether or not the brand’s founder, Josué Thomas, plans to continue his creative endeavors under a new name. Prior to the brand’s closing, the Gallery Dept. Logo Trucker Hat was one of their best-selling pieces. The hat’s popularity has continued since the brand was closed and it’s likely that it will keep doing so.
