Those just-right pieces that transport you from summer to fall seamlessly, including picks from Jacquemus, Kith, Reebok & more.

We can all admit at some point, we’ve gone through a bit of an awkward stage. You know the period, when your personal style hasn’t quite hit yet and you still haven’t mastered your good-hair-day ‘do. Personally, mine was freshman year of high school (yup, how timely) when I first got braces and YouTube makeup tutorials didn’t exist.

The fashion cycle is no expectation to that anticipated awkward phase. Their confusing time period comes in-between seasons, when you don’t know if you should wear shorts or layer up on coats and are equally as puzzled. And hate to break it to you all, but we are about to enter one of fashion’s awkward times: that moment between summer and fall. This transitional period may feel conflicting, as physically you’re still in summer but mentally you’re in fall. But with the right pieces, you can easily transition your wardrobe from summer to fall without any awkwardness in sight. Here is our breakdown on the essentials you need to make this transitional period as stress-free (and stylish) as possible.

Jacquemus La Veste D’Homme Square Jacket

There is honestly nothing more transitional than an everyday blazer. It’s a lightweight layering piece that feels cool in the summer yet still warms you up in the fall. The Jacquemus La Veste D’Homme Square Jacket has an oversized fit that looks modern yet still timeless at the same time. It’s also made with 100% linen– the ideal fabric for a transitional period. Pair this blazer with the matching Le Pantalon Sauge High Waisted Flare Pant in Beige for the ultimate cool-girl look.

LOEWE Padded Denim Jacket Men’s

Denim jackets are no surprise when it comes to summer layering. But to take this outerwear essential into fall, try a thicker version like LOEWE’s Padded Denim Jacket. What I love about this denim jacket is that the padded build and relaxed fit give this style a contemporary flair, while still remaining a timeless layering staple. It’s like a lightweight bomber jacket meets a classic denim jacket for a whole new take on transitional layering. Style with your favorite pair of relaxed cargos and a retro pair of sneakers to keep this jacket summer night ready.

Kith for Wilson Sweater Cardigan

Another way to start transitioning your wardrobe is to tap into the up-and-coming trends before next season comes around. While soccer-inspired jerseys had their moment this summer, racket sports will be fall’s style muse. Expect to see more preppy tennis-inspired dressing next season with updated takes on cardigans, pleated skirts, and tailoring. Kith has already tapped into this trend, collaborating with Wilson on a collection that blends performance sportswear with upscale designs for an on-and-off the court aesthetic. The Kith for Wilson Sweater Cardigan in Seedpearl is the perfect pick to introduce your wardrobe to some fall prep. The cardigan is made with a breathable knitwear fabric that has quick-drying and cooling capabilities. The performance cardigan is finished with luxurious touches, from the ribbed hem and cuffs to the co-branded logo on the chest. Not to mention, the rich cream of the Seedpearl color is the perfect shade for an all-tonal late summer look.

Gucci Horsebit Slip On Loafer

When it comes to footwear, nothing makes the seasonal shift easier than a chic pair of loafers. What I love about this Gucci Slip On style is that the back folds down, transforming this loafer into an easy slide-on shoe for any occasion. This versatile loafer gives you styling options for the season’s changing temperatures: you can keep the heel open and let your feet cool on warm days or you can fold it back up for a closed-in design for those chilly fall mornings and evenings. Style the loafers with your favorite pair of white socks, oversized denim shorts, and a lightweight sweater for an elevated take on an end-of-summer outfit.

ASICS Gel-Kayano 14

With “fall prep” about to have a major moment this fall, I feel like it’s also a perfect time to reintroduce all of our favorite normcore sneakers to the lineup. Because if we’re tapping into our preppier side, then why not channel our inner suburban dad style while we’re at it? Normcore running shoes are a stylish pairing to any laid-back tailored trouser or country-club inspired cardigan. The ASICS Gel-Kayano 14 is my current sneaker obsession. The retro running silhouette incorporates modern touches with updated materials and GEL technology cushioning. I already have the White Midnight colorway but the Cream Black Metallic Plum is next on my list. I love the combination of the cream mesh with the rich plum metallic on the layered leather. It’s the perfect fall colorway to pair with the tones of the season: rich neutrals, creams, and denim.
