Supreme is finally back for a new season, and the Fall/Winter 2021 collection is starting off strong with some noticeable pieces for the first week. In 2018, there were rumors of Supreme dropping a tee that featured legendary American record producer Rick Rubin. Those rumors proved premature. But three years later, it’s here. Supreme is kicking off the Fall/Winter 2021 collection with a Rick Rubin Tee that features the producer meditating while wearing a classic Box Logo T-shirt.
While Supreme is known for bold collaborations, unconventional accessories, and the famous Box Logo motif, one of the brand’s bread and butter is the slew of Photo Tees released every season. Fall/Winter 2021 is no different, and the Supreme Rick Rubin Tee is just one of many graphic tees dropping throughout the season.
In 2020, the Supreme Pharoah Sanders T-Shirt racked up more than 6,000 total sales on StockX, making it one of the best selling t-shirts on the platform in 2020. While it’s too early to tell how this season’s tees will stack up, the Supreme Rick Rubin Tee will be a great start to the collection.

Rick Rubin’s resume is as impressive as it is extensive — working with some of the world’s most renowned artists from a plethora of different genres. As a co-founder of Def Jam Recordings and the founder of American Recordings, Rubin has produced records with Public Enemy, System of a Down, Johnny Cash, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, and a slew of other artists. Rubin’s start in music grew through a passion for punk, playing in a band called Hose before finding a new love in hip-hop. This foundation in both punk and rap means Rubin’s production has no genre limitations. He’s produced classic hip-hop records like LL Cool J’s 1985 Radio, all the way to some of metal’s most beloved albums like System of a Down’s Toxicity. Rubin’s influence on modern music is difficult to fathom, and Time featured him in the publication’s 100 Most Influential People in the World.
While the shirt is anticipated to be one of the more popular releases from the first week of Fall/Winter 2021, it’s also symbolic of a lifelong journey for Rubin. The producer told The Rolling Stones in 2014 that he started meditating at the age of 14 and has practiced transcendental meditation (also known as TM) for most of his life. He would sometimes bridge his two passions in life, meditating before working on records in the studio. The Supreme Rick Rubin Tee pays homage to the producer’s lifelong love for meditation.
