The 3.0 was the third step in the evolution of the gold standard of athletic shoes. Officially debuting on December 6, 2018, the Ultra Boost 3.0 was meant to take running shoe design to the next level. This incarnation of the Ultra Boost comes with a translucent caging and a new Primeknit pattern that indicates the brand’s commitment to constant evolution and improvement. As legendary sneaker designer and creator of the Ultra Boost 3.0 Ben Herath explains, the inspiration for the shoes’ special Primeknit pattern comes from a close study of the ways in which the skin actually moves while you run. With this knowledge in mind, Herath and his team were able to lay down lines of support and resistance along the body of the shoe in just such a way so that it works with and properly responds to the movements and support requirements of human skin while running. Of course, the Boost technology that has been part of all of this sneaker’s versions remains but in new and improved form, giving 20% more bounce than the typical athletic shoe made of EVA. As can be seen in much-loved versions like the Ultra Boost 3.0 Black Multi-Color, the Primeknit pattern provides an instantly recognizable look, and the shoe’s upturned front silhouette helps give it the kind of bounce and recoil that avid athletes have been dreaming of.
