Kobe’s 8th Nike shoe was designed by Eric Avar's team in cooperation with Kobe Bryant. The Nike Kobe 8 will forever be clouded in infamy as it was the shoe Kobe was wearing when he suffered a torn achilles. The Kobe 8 has a lower profile than any previous Kobe signature model. Always pushing boundaries, Bryant's goal with the 8 was to be as quick as possible. In his mind, removing even a little height or weight from the design could translate into better speed on the court. With the Nike Kobe 8, the goal was to make a shoe that acted like it was a part of the foot, not a separate object. This sneaker is made with 90% engineered mesh. There's no stitching at all in the construction. Although the sole is thin, it's made with Lunarlon for a very supportive, cushioned feel. The ease of printing onto this material led to some amazing colorways, including the Kobe 8+ in Bright Citrus/Sport Turquoise-Total Crimson. The most popular Kobe 8s include the SS Christmas in Black/Electric Green-Cool Grey-Metallic Gold and the What the Kobe in Electric Orange/Volt-Bright Crimson.
