The Supreme AKIRA Neo-Tokyo Long Sleeve Tee was just one small part of the special collection between the streetwear brand and popular Japanese manga. Katsuhiro Otomo created the manga AKIRA, which ran from 1982 to 1990. Before the series ended it was adapted to a feature film which released in 1988. The film is often named as one of the top animated movies, not just Japanese, of all time. It is also credited for starting the growth of anime globally. Made for the Fall/Winter 2017 seasons, the cotton long sleeved tee features a simple front. There we see the AKIRA kanji is added in red over the Supreme name in capitalized bold font. The look pays homage to the film’s poster. The back of the tee features original artwork from the Otomo manga. The black and white scene depicts a moment when Neo-Tokyo is blown up, the origin of the blast being the Olympic Stadium. A dramatic scene anyone familiar with AKIRA will recognize it. The black Supreme AKIRA Neo-Tokyo Long Sleeve Tee doopped and sold out on it’s release date of November 2nd, 2017 at most Supreme locations.
