ASICS For Every Budget

From splurge-worthy collabs to styles that won’t break the bank.

From splurge-worthy collabs to styles that won’t break the bank.

If you take one look at my sneaker collection, you will instantly notice that ASICS dominate my rotation. There’s just something about the styles that resonate with me and my aesthetic. Maybe it’s the fact that they balance performance and technology with style. Or maybe I just love the iconic designs that feel vintage yet trendy for a more fashion-forward sneakerhead. Whatever the case, I just can’t get enough of the brand, especially with the new colorway releases and updated retro models lately.

While ASICS started as a high performance running shoe (and cycled through an era of beloved dad sneaker status), they are now defined as a brand that balances streetwear and high fashion. You’ll see just as many sneakerheads wearing them as you will see  fashionistas flaunting them at a fashion show. And it’s because ASICS really are a versatile sneaker that looks good with just about any look. The normcore running shoe gives your ‘fit a retro-infused feel that has been rising in popularity in recent years. While the extensive list of colorways has an option for everyone – from the color-obsessed to the neutral-only crowd. The best part? The technical sneaker is actually affordable. While yes, there are some hypeworthy collabs that cost a pretty penny, for the most part ASICS is a shoe that won’t break the bank.

So whether you’re new to the brand and want a starter style or are looking to splurge on a rare find for your collection, here is your guide to ASICS for every budget.

Under $150

ASICS Gel-1130 White Midnight (Women’s)

The ASICS Gel-1130 in White Midnight reminds me of a vintage 90s sneaker. The classic yet understated silhouette hits on the minimalism mark that the fashion world can’t seem to get enough of. The midnight and white colorway looks effortlessly chic and pairs perfectly with your winter wardrobe.

ASICS Gel-1130 White Clay Canyon

Another popular colorway in the ASICS Gel-1130 category is the White Clay Canyon. The silhouette was inspired by the Gel-Kayano 14 sneaker, with a similar look and updated technology. The white silver and brown synthetic leather cross on the midsole adds warmth to the white mesh, making it a top choice for the cozy weather season.

ASICS Gel-NYC Cream Kale

Released in September 2023, the ASICS GEL-NYC is a newer model from the heritage sneaker brand. However, the intentional design elements actually make this recent style more vintage looking than other pairs in the ASICS catalog. The sneaker combines elements from the GEL-CUMULUS 16 shoe for the base and fuses early 2000s style elements to create a modern retro aesthetic. It’s no wonder Cecille Bahnsen collabed with the GEL-NYC, as the sneaker feels very fashion-forward. I love the Cream Kale colorway for a version that hits under the $150 mark yet looks currently on trend.

Under $200

ASICS Gel-Kayano Legacy Pure Silver

The ASICS Gel Kayano Legacy pays homage to the 30-year history of the Gel-Kayano designs and milestones. The base is inspired by the Gel-Kayano 14 while the upper is modified with various materials and details that were taken from different eras of the Gel-Kayano history. While the sneaker draws from the past, the pure silver colorway looks like a step into the future.

ASICS Gel-Kayano 14 Cream Black Metallic Plum

This colorway of the Gek-Kayano 14 has been on my wishlist for quite some time. There’s just something about that cream mesh base that feels so rich, current, and stylish. The Gel-Kayano 14 is one of my favorite ASICS (and all-time) sneaker models for its iconic and chic build and ultra comfortable fit. The black metallic plum leather accents give this classic shoe a fashionable touch.

ASICS GT-2160 White Shamrock Green

It doesn’t need to be St. Paddy’s day for you to wear shamrock green. The ASICS GT-2160 feels festive no matter the time, as the rich green adds a fun pop of color to your look. I love the GT-2160 for its extra comfort, as the style was originally released as a budget-friendly stability running sneaker.

Under $250

ASICS Gel-Kayano 14 White Pure Silver

Take it from the StockX editors: this Gel-Kayano 14 colorway will be the next big thing in the sneaker conversation. It keeps selling out on StockX so we know we’re onto something. There’s just something captivating about the all silver base and details. The silver synthetic leather really pops against the mesh, while the dark reddish brown sole gives the sneaker an added, sleek depth.

ASICS Gel-1130 HAL Studio Glacier

One look at the ASICS Gel-1130 in HAL Studio Glacier and you can tell this is a trendsetter’s shoe. The combination of neutral colors with the suede overlay just looks effortlessly cool yet feels fresh and bold. The contrasting textures and tones take inspo from the rugged landscapes found in glaciers (hence the name). It’s a sneaker that blends intention with aesthetic seamlessly.

ASICS Gel-Kayano 14 White Midnight (Women’s)

The second I saw the white midnight colorway I was swooning. It truly was love at first sight. Compared to the cream black metallic plum colorway above, I love how this Gel-Kayano 14 version utilizes the rich cream tone in the leather details. It adds a cool contrast to the all-white mesh in this sneaker’s base.

Over $300

ASICS Gel-Kayano 14 Kith Cream Scarab

It’s no surprise that the first sneaker on the splurge worthy list is from a Kith collaboration. Everything Kith touches turns to gold (or in this case silver). If you already have a collection of Gel-Kayano 14s going, the holidays are the perfect time to treat yourself and add a unique (and more luxurious) find. The sneaker features reflective silver hues in the synthetic leather overlays and a stylish cream mesh base. On a closer look, the style also has subtle pops of rich green on the edges of the signature side stripes.

ASICS Gel-1130 French Blue Pure Silver

This next pick has quickly become a top favorite of mine. As someone who typically goes for lighter base colors in sneakers (white, grey, cream), this dark navy base feels new and daring to me. Dark sneaker palettes are having a moment right now, with the rise in all black and dark blue sneakers seen on street style icons this season. So it’s no wonder the French blue pure silver colorway is rising in asks on StockX. The French blue mesh base paired with the reflective silver overlays look modern and on-trend for the winter season.

ASICS Gel-Kayano 14 JJJJound Silver Black

Last but certainly not least, if you’re serious about your ASICS collection look no further than the JJJJound Gel-Kayano 14 in Silver Black. It’s a pair that stops people on the streets and inspires fellow sneaker lovers to give you that IYKYK head nod, like you officially are part of the in-crowd when it comes to streetwear knowledge and taste. It’s the ASICS chef’s kiss you need this holiday season (and forever).
