Bestselling Sneakers
The graphic above shows the top 5 highest GMV (Gross Merchandise Value) sneakers of September and their respective market share (calculated as a share of the top 10, not all sneakers sold on StockX).
The shift from Jordan 1 Mids to Highs continued in November, with the Air Jordan 1 Retro High “Midnight Navy” and “Lucky Green” colourways claiming the #1 and #3 slots on our best-sellers list for the month.
When it comes to Mids, two more November releases, the Air Jordan 1 Mid “White Shadow” and the Air Jordan 1 Mid “Grey Camo” ranked #2 and #4, overall. Both pairs were general releases that arrived with little fanfare but seem to have won over Jumpman fans with their striking resemblance to some iconic Jordan colourways.
Our top 5 for November is rounded out by the Yeezy Boost 350 v2 “Carbon”.
Trending Silhouettes
A number of silhouettes saw big rises in November, headlined by the Yeezy 700 v2 and v3, which enjoyed 49% and 193% increases in GMV, respectively. Elsewhere, the New Balance 327 continued to cement its reputation in Europe with a trio of new releases and growth of 80% month-on-month.
However, we wanted to shout out what was a great month for Air Max silhouettes. In a year full of uncertainty, you can rely on the Air Max to offer comforting familiarity. The standout performer last month was the Air Max 97, which enjoyed a 109% increase in GMV vs October.
The driving force behind this increase was the Nike Air Max 97 Golf NRG “Celestial Gold”. “Golf Shoes!?” we hear you cry. Don’t let that fool you. First things first, the kiltie is removable if it’s not your thing, and these 97’s come with Sean Wotherspoon-eqsue corduroy detailing.
Meanwhile, the Air Max 90 and 95 saw two iconic colourways return last month. First off, the legendary “Infrared” Air Max 90 colourway finally got a long-overdue re-release, while Nike’s Halloween lineup saw the Air Max 95 dressed in the rare “Freddy Krueger” colourway for the first time.
Country breakdown
We all missed out on a holiday or five this year, so put on some shades, crank up the heating and prime your imagination, as we embark on a whistle-stop tour around Europe.
While the UK and Germany followed the general buyer trends, we some real local flavour emerge from all of our other major European markets. In Italy, the Air Jordan 1 High “Satin Snake” shows no signs of easing up, topping the country’s best-selling list for the third consecutive month, selling 1222% more than the global average.
Over in France, the Air Jordan 1 Mid “Dia de los Muertos” was an unexpected hit, with French buyers indexing 252% above the global average. Perhaps more predictably, both colourways of the new Nike sacai Vaporwaffle made the country’s top 5 sellers, with customers purchasing the “Fuchsia Game Royal” colourway 60% more than the global average.
Most Expensive
Back in 2014, Jordan Brand celebrated Justin Timberlake and Jay-Z’s ‘Legends of the Summer’ Tour with a special collection of Air Jordans. Word is that each shoe was limited to 14 pairs to represent the number of stops on the tour. This could be the reason why one European customer parted with over £5,000 for a pair of the “Red Glitter” colourway. A big flex, for sure.
We also see a couple of Off-White x Nike collabs make the list, with the “Virgil x MoMA” edition of the Nike Air Force 1 entering this list for the first time, alongside the Off-White Air Jordan 1 Retro High “Chicago”. A US exclusive release back in 2017, the MoMA x Virgil AF1 is still a grail for many European collectors, so it’s perhaps not any great surprise to see these kinds of numbers involved. Our list for November is completed by the everpresent Air Jordan 1 High Retro Dior and the increasingly present Nike Air Yeezy 2 NRG.
