You didn’t think we’d let the Bred 1s drop without dropping some data to go with it, did you?
What follows is a two-part sneakerheadata primer:
- Every significant Jordan 1 during the past twelve months; and
- Every Bred 1, ever
. . . and whether this weekend’s Bred 1 release has impacted anything.
To start, here are the notable Jordan 1s which were resold at least 40 times over the past 12 months. We intentionally left off Pinnacles and Lows.
- As expected, Shattered Backboards and Chicago 2015s topped the list for both total dollars and total sales
- Less expected, UNCs came in at number three – but they were a more recent release and have had restocks
- Note the Banned 2011s. Only 47 pairs sold, but they still generated more resell dollars than half of the other pairs
Key Insights:
- Black and Gold 2013s have the highest average resell price of $1237, besting the Banned 2011 by $175
- The Jeters are still holding an average price of $513, the last in the green section ($500 or more)
- Related, every time I see a Jeter 1, all I think about are Chase Utley’s five homers in the 2009 World Series – that the Yanks won. Typical Philly fan; best memories are of losing
Now to the main course.
Every Bred 1, ever, and what they’ve sold for over the past 13 months:
As far back as November 2015, the sneaker rumor mills offered up talk of a Bred 1 summer 2016 release. And then this past June, the official release date was confirmed.
Key Insights:
- The 2013 Bred 1 dropped considerably after the 2016 release date was announced, going from $724 in June to $413 in August
- There’s been a general decline in monthly resell prices for all Breds which started with the initial rumors of a 2016 Bred 1 (Nov ’15), and then again when the release data was confirmed (June ’16)
- The 2011 Banned seems to the most immune to the 2016 release, continuing to increase in value. Our guess is that once official images of the 2016s confirmed no “X” on the heel, any potential price depression of the Banned was thwarted

2016 Bred 1 Release Forecast
Right now, it looks like there’s going to be a ton of Bred 1s released tomorrow.
Resell price to date (i.e., pre-sales) for the 2016 Bred 1 on StockX has been $328.
This will certainly kill the resell value for the 2016s, but what impact will it have on the older models? Usually we see new releases depress the value of older models – as evidenced on the chart above – but maybe, just maybe, there will be a hardcore Jay collector cohort who are re-motivated to buy older models because every Tom, Dick and Hypebeast has the 2016s. Maybe.
