The holidays are coming to an end, a new decade is upon us, and the chaos of the NFL Playoffs is finally here.Ā  2020 brings a little more intrigue than years past. Especially considering the Patriots have faded down the stretch. With 8 of the 12 teams being led by a QB who has never won the big game as a starter (yes weā€™re counting Carson Wentz in that group), some of these guys have a serious chance to gain clout for their legacy and their rookie cards. Letā€™s take a look at the top 3 favorite teams according to betting odds, and what a deep run could mean for their Rookie cards.

The Baltimore Ravens and Lamar Jackson

Since we last spoke about Lamar Jackson he’s managed to accomplish even more. He eclipsed 1,200 rushing yards, finished number one in passing touchdowns and became the fastest QB ever in Madden.

Jackson’s Ravens enter the playoffs on a 12 game winning streak as the number 1 seed in the AFC.Ā  Lamarā€™s 2018 Panini Prizm #212 PSA 10 football card has been going for $500 per PSA data in December, and it will only continue to climb with a deep playoff run. Baltimore will most likely play Houston or Buffalo in the divisional round. Both are teams that they took down in the regular season. A win would probably mean a date in the AFC Championship with either the Chiefs or Patriots.Ā  The Ravens already defeated the Patriots this season. However, the Chiefs were able to topple the Ravens in Arrowhead earlier this year. Of course, with the Ravens having home-field advantage this time, it could mean big things for Lamarā€™s rookie card.

The Kansas City Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes

According to the odds, Kansas City has the best chance to get by Baltimore this year.Ā  The Chiefs will likely match up against New England in the Divisional round at home.Ā  A rematch of the AFC championship game last year (which saw the Pats come out on top), however Mahomes and the Chiefs were able to defeat New England in Gilette earlier this season.

Although Mahomes missed some time with a knee injury, he continued to impress. As a result, his 2017 Panini Prizm #269 PSA 10 benefitted as well.Ā  In early October 2019, Mahomesā€™ card peaked at $1,600. It has come back down to earth, in December it was selling consistently between $650 and $700.Ā  However, knowing where this trading card has already been, what he has already accomplished in his career, and pairing that with a Lombardi Trophy run, Mahomes rookie card has a lot to gain this postseason.

The San Fransisco 49ers and Jimmy Garoppolo

On the other side of the bracket, we look to the San Fransisco 49ers and Jimmy Garoppolo. After clinching the number 1 overall seed by a literal matter of Inches, Garoppolo will begin his first-ever playoff run as a starter. In order to get to the big game, Jimmy and the 49ers will have to get through either Seattle or Green Bay. San Fransisco did handle Green Bay at home already this year. However, their games against Seattle proved to be more difficult.Ā  They split the season series, losing the first matchup in OT and winning the second meeting on a heroic tackle short of the goal line as time expired.Ā

Garoppolo obviously differs greatly in playstyle from the first two guys on this list. However, Jimmy and his 2014 Topps Chrome Rookie Throwing #150 could benefit greatly this postseason from San Fransisco boasting the second-best rushing attack and second-best total defense in the League. Garoppoloā€™s 2014 Topps Chrome Rookie Throwing #150 PSA 10 has been trading between $27 and $40 all season. If the 49ers can go on a run all the way to Miami, Garoppolo’s rookie card is bound to go along for the ride.
