For the second installment of our Supreme SS18 Review, we look back at the most popular item from each of the 10 categories. The StockX data team crunched the numbers and developed a Krabby Patty-esque secret formula that takes volume, price premium, price momentum, and more into consideration to determine the most popular items of the season. Letās take a look:
Headwear: Supreme LACOSTE Twill 6-Panel BlackReleased as a part of a massive Lacoste collaboration back in April, this Twill 6-Panel Cap checks in as the hottest hat of the season. The simple and clean logo on this all-black ādadā hat is the perfect item to go with your now trendy dad-shoes, and has steadily risen in price since itās initial release, generating profits of up to 115% for sellers who implemented a buy and hold strategy.
Shirts: Supreme Lily Rayon Shirt Black
Undoubtedly the shocker of the season, the Lily Rayon shirt came through like UMBC beating Virginia and somehow became one of the most sought after and profitable items of the season. The Lily Rayon shirt had essentially no hype prior to its June release, but immediately became a smash hit as prices meteorically rose well over 150% post-release, making this not only the most popular shirt, but one of the most intriguing storylines of the entire season.
Bags: Supreme Shoulder Bag BlackIt should come as no surprise that the Black Shoulder Bag reigns supreme in the bag category. The all-black bag features a subtle box logo on the front, and custom stitching on the strap. With an affordable retail price of just $54, these bags were scooped up immediately during the week one drop, and saw significant price fluctuations during a restock in May. Nonetheless, sellers have netted average returns of over 100% with over 7,000 sales to date.
Skate: Supreme Skull Pile Skateboard DeckA print made famous by Juicy J in Three 6 Mafiaās Stay Fly music video in 2005, Supreme released a variety of Skull Pile items during their SS18 collection. The Skull Pile Skateboard was one of the most popular of the collection, pacing the category in both volume and price premium for the season. Of course, the full-sized box logo on the bottom is a rare occurrence for a Supreme deck nowadays and certainly helped drive this board to the top.
Shoes: Supreme Air Force 1 Mid NBA WhiteReleased in the thick of a wild NBA playoff push back in March, Supreme teamed up with Nike and licensed NBA team logos for a classic Air Force 1 Mid model. Some loved it, others hated it, but the numbers donāt lie. While price premiums were modest at best, volume in the thousands of pairs helped crown this shoe champion of the SS18, even over the flame-covered Zoom Spectrums.
Jackets: Supreme Studded Arc Logo Leather Jacket RedEvery season, there are a few items that Supreme makes in extremely limited quantities. This was most definitely the case for this studded jacket, that sold out in less than 10 seconds in all sizes despite carrying a high retail price of $698. That price didnāt stop the momentum though, as sales have approached $2,000 for this now iconic jacket.
Tops/Sweatshirts: Supreme Sideline Hooded Sweatshirt BlackBig or small, any items bearing the iconic Futura Heavy Oblique Supreme logo are bound to draw interest from fans. This hoodie is no different. With a massive logo on each sleeve and no branding on the front or back, Supremeās backwards approach to traditional graphic usage resonated heavily with their crowd. The hoodie has steadily increased in price from around $250 on release day to well over $350 just a few short months later.
T-Shirts: Supreme Rocks Tee BlackSticking with their seasonal tradition, Supreme released a collection of Summer tees in late June. The collection of seven t-shirts was a smash hit with buyers, with all colors and sizes selling out in mere minutes. The most popular of these was the Black Rocks Tee, which has been moving at price premiums of up to 300% over the initial retail price of $36. The verdict is clear – this tee rocks.
Accessories: Supreme RIMOWA Topas Multiwheel 82L RedNo Supreme SS18 Review can be complete without mentioning the Supreme x Rimowa collaboration. With an outlandish retail price of $1,800, many predicted this item would be a flop on the secondary market. Quite the opposite – those who were able to score on the nearly impossible to get suitcase made thousands, with some sales occurring well above the $5,000 mark. Not bad for a dayās work.
Bottoms: Supreme Nike/NBA Teams Authentic Short BlackSupreme brought the heat with their shorts this season – athletic shorts, swim shorts, and sweat shorts were popular across the board. But these Black Nike/NBA shorts took the top spot. These shorts dominated the category like Golden State, leading the way in volume and holding a steady price premium. While the NBA playoffs are long over, these shorts are perfect for balling on your co-workers after hours or breaking ankles and necks at your local YMCA.
