The third main expansion to the MetaZoo TCG is due out on March 31st, but this week we get an early preview of the set as Topps and MetaZoo have come together once again, this time to collaborate on a set strictly meant for collecting with Topps x MetaZoo Wilderness Series 1. Panini provides the only sports card releases of the week with 2021 Limited Football and 2022 Panini Donruss Racing. MSCHF gives us the latest edition in their Blur figure series that is the highlight of the collectibles release calendar. Plus, Nike celebrates the trading card boom of the 1990s with a new Air More Uptempo. Get more details on all of these releases in the latest issue of The Rip.
Topps x MetaZoo Wilderness Series 1
Topps x MetaZoo Wilderness Series 1 sees the two brands team up for the second time with yet another collectible card collaboration that previews what is to come in the MetaZoo Wilderness expansion set later this month. Much like the previous collaboration between Topps and MetaZoo, the cards found in Topps x MetaZoo Series 1 are meant for collecting only, and will not be playable in the TCG. The cards highlight the scenes from the MetaZoo story in addition to Beasties, spells, and artifacts that will be coming in the Wilderness expansion, including the highly-anticipated Cumberland Dragon.
The Topps x MetaZoo Wilderness Series 1 Box comes in a similar format as the Series 0 release as it contains 30 total cards: six cards per pack, and five packs per box. You can look to track down rare inserts in the set, but these are not guaranteed in each box, making the search even more rewarding.
The Topps x MetaZoo Wilderness Series 1 Box is set to begin releasing on March 15th at physical retail stores that carry MetaZoo trading cards, as well as on the Topps website while supply lasts.
2021 Panini Limited Football
2021 Panini Limited Football hosts a base set of 100 cards printed on premium thick card stock in addition to a wide array of relic and sticker autographs. Among the top cards in the set, collectors can look to chase after Rookie Patch Autographs featuring players who made their NFL debut during the 2021 season, including several quarterbacks with high ceilings such as Trevor Lawrence, Zach Wilson, Justin Fields, Trey Lance, plus more. Each of these Rookie Patch Autograph cards is limited to 299 copies or less.
The 2021 Panini Limited Football Hobby Box contains five cards per pack, and three packs per box. Each box will add one Rookie Patch Autograph, one additional autograph, one relic card, and one limited print run color variation parallel to your collection, on average. You will also receive one 2000 Limited Tribute Card, a new insert that covers a list of 60 rookies and 40 NFL veteran standouts.
The 2021 Panini Limited Football Hobby Box releases March 16th on the Panini America website.
2022 Panini Donruss NASCAR Racing
2022 Panini Donruss NASCAR Racing covers the biggest names in NASCAR in a 200 card base set that includes a fresh batch of Rated Rookie cards for new drivers on the circuit. Additionally, a variety of sticker autographs, limited print run parallels, race-used relic cards, and classic inserts (like the comic book-inspired Motorsport Marvels) round out the subsets in 2022 Panini Donruss NASCAR Racing.
Each 2022 Panini Donruss NASCAR Racing Hobby Box comes in the traditional format of eight cards per pack, and 24 packs per box. The hits in the box come in the form of one autograph, two relic cards, and 24 Silver or color variation limited print run parallels, on average. You can also expect to find 24 Optic cards in each box.
The 2022 Panini Donruss Racing Hobby Box drops on March 16th on the Panini America website with retail products, such as Blasters, beginning to stock following the Hobby Box release.
MSCHF Blur د.إ 100 Dirham Figure
It has now been over a year since MSCHF launched their first viral Blur figure. The first “eCommerce performance art piece” was simply entitled Blur, with a product image that appeared to be a fuzzy image of a stack of US $20 bills. MSCHF sold the figures with the disclaimer that all sales were final, in order to learn what exactly it was, you’d have to purchase the product. When buyers received the item in the coming weeks they learned that it was exactly what MSCHF had advertised, a six inch sculpture depicting a blurry stack of $20 bills.
This week, MSCHF will be dropping the fifth figure in the Blur Series. This time, the six inch tall sculpture will depict a stack of 100 Dirham (د.إ) notes, the official currency of the United Arab Emirates. The figure will drop on March 14th at 11AM EDT on the MSCHF app.
