The trading card release calendar is relatively quiet to start the month of August. 2021 Panini Gold Standard Football marks the only brand new sports set to drop this week. Topps is celebrating National Baseball Card Day on Saturday, August 7th where exclusive free packs of cards will be handed out at all MLB games. Meanwhile, Pokémon is set to release a trio of new retail boxes that you’ll be able to find at Target and Walmart. Read about all of these releases in this week’s issue of The Rip.
2021 Panini Gold Standard Football
2021 Panini Gold Standard Football focuses on hits that come in the form of autographs and relics. The 200 card base set is composed of 100 current and former stars, and 100 rookies from the 2021 NFL Draft. The set lives up to its name by using a gold-colored backdrop for all of the cards in the base set, and most of the autograph and relic subsets as well. The rookies in the set include several highly-touted quarterback prospects including Trevor Lawrence, Zach Wilson, Trey Lance, Justin Fields, plus more.
The 2021 Panini Gold Standard Football Hobby Box comes with seven cards per pack, and one pack per box. Of the seven cards, five will be five Autographs or Relics, and two will come in the form of base cards or rarer base card color variation parallels.

Depending on which V Box you choose, you will receive a promo card and an oversized promo card featuring either Ice Rider Calyrex V or Shadow Rider Calyrex V, in addition to four Pokémon TCG booster packs, and a code card for the online Pokémon card game.
