We say this every year, but somehow it feels like we blinked and all of a sudden it’s May. Though it’s still not even halfway through spring, the rapidly approaching summer season, and its accompanying wardrobe, seems to be on the minds of everyone everywhere. If you haven’t been paying attention, short sleeve lace shirts are one of the summer’s most anticipated trends and New York’s Aimé Leon Dore (ALD) has delivered one of the season’s best. The Aimé Leon Dore Rico Shirt, a piece that was originally released last year, and received another drop this year, is this week’s StockX Pick of the Week.

First delivered in two colors in the Spring/Summer season of 2021, the Aimé Leon Dore Rico Shirt has become one of the most popular pieces from the brand on StockX. When the first two colors of the shirt were released, resale premiums for each of them were astronomical, trading for nearly four times the $225 retail price at its most expensive. Earlier this year, the brand re-released the shirt in a cream and navy colorway, and since then, price premiums for all four colors have leveled out at around double the retail price. The shirt is made from a woven lightweight polyester, spandex lace material and features a camp collar construction.

For those who haven’t been keeping up with the brand, Aimé Leon Dore is a New York-based apparel company founded by Teddy Santis. Rooted in New York street culture, the brand delivers a grown up take on streetwear staples, combining the collaborative graphic-heavy t-shirt and hoodie ethos with a smarter, more mature look. The brand’s lookbooks, released every season, have become the industry standard for introducing a new collection, inspiring other brands to create similar, nearly identical, imagery of their own. Ultimately, ALD delivers their own honest community-centered take on the incredibly influential street style of New York City over the last few decades.

ALD’s collaborative work with brands like New Balance, Porsche, and Clarks have played a significant role in catapulting the brand into its current spot in the limelight. Collaborative sneakers like the New Balance 550, which was resurrected as a part of an Aimé Leon Dore collaboration, have elevated both brands to new heights in the pop culture zeitgeist. Due to his incredibly well received New Balance collaborations with ALD, Teddy Santis was named creative director of New Balance’s Made in the USA line last spring and released his first collection of sneakers and apparel through that medium just last month.

Despite their current cult-following, Aimé Leon Dore isn’t a huge brand on StockX yet. Starting earlier this year with the Spring/Summer 2022 season, all products from the brand are being added to the StockX catalog and made available for trading. So if you happen to miss out on drop day, don’t get too upset, there’s still a chance you can grab it here.
