Air Jordan dominates this week with a slew of great releases. From the return of the Black Metallic Jordan 1s to a new University Blue colorway of the Jordan 9s, check out this week’s Drop List to see what else has is in store for releases.
Air Jordan 1 Black Metallic Gold
The Air Jordan 1 Black Metallic Gold returns in 2020. Jordan Brand is no stranger to patent leather since the Air Jordan 11 debuted the material for the brand back in 1996. Since then, it’s found its way onto various models such as the Jordan 1, Jordan 4, and Jordan 7. 2020 marks the second retro of the Black Metallic Gold colorway to don the Jordan 1, with the first releasing back in 2013. When Jordan Brand brought back OG colorways of the Jordan 1 seven years ago, such as the Breds and Royals, the hype for Jordan 1s was at its peak. When MJ and Nike dropped the Black Metallic Gold colorway that same year, the sneaker was a hit, selling out instantly. The brand hopes to grasp the same amount of attention by bringing back the colorway, with a few upgrades.
The Air Jordan 1 Black Metallic Gold’s 2020 retro delivers slight cosmetic changes from its 2013 predecessor. The upper maintains the same patent leather black and metallic gold upper but with hints of gold around the ankle. From there, a full translucent black sole with gold speckles completes the Jordan 1 classic.
The Air Jordan 1 Black Metallic Gold releases this Monday, November 30th, for $170 on the SNKRS app and other Jordan stockists.
Air Jordan 1 Mid Metallic Gold
The Air Jordan 1 Mid gets the golden treatment this week as well. This Jordan Mid model takes on a shiny and reflective upper that is sure to make anyone take a second look at your feet.
This Air Jordan 1 Mid takes on metallic gold overlays with a mix of smooth white leather. A quintessential Nike Swoosh in black provides a contrast to the upper. A black and white Jumpman logo appears on the tongue tag in typical Jordan Mid fashion.
The Air Jordan 1 Mid Metallic Gold releases Monday, November 30th, for $130 at Nike and Jordan stockists.
Air Jordan 8 Burgundy (W)
The Jordan train doesn’t stop this week, as the Air Jordan 8 makes an appearance in a new Burgundy colorway. This women’s exclusive adds to the list of popular Jordan 8 colorways just for the ladies, like the White Aqua and Ice Blue.
The Air Jordan 8 Burgundy takes similar cues from the OG Jordan 8 Bugs Bunny colorway, but with darker hues. This 8’s upper features a mix of smooth white leather with grey suede on the ankle. Adjustable straps are added for stability, securing the foot’s placement in the sneaker. Lastly, chenille material is embroidered on the neoprene tongue, showcasing the Jumpman logo in Burgundy.
The women’s exclusive Air Jordan 8 Burgundy is set to release this Friday, December 4th, for $190 on the SNKRS app and other Jordan stockists.
Air Jordan 9 University Blue
Another original Jordan model getting the spotlight is the Air Jordan 9, this time releasing in a University Blue colorway. Debuting back in 1993, the Air Jordan 9 was the one sneaker to release during Michael Jordan’s 13-month stint in Minor League Baseball. Since its release, the Jordan 9 has featured a plethora of popular colorways such as 2019’s Gym Red and Pearl Blue. This month marks the Jordan 9s first release of 2020.
The Air Jordan 9 University Blue is constructed with OG color-blocking in mind. Imagine 2016’s Playoff retro, and replace all of the red with Blue. The upper holds a mix of white leather and black speckled overlays. Subtle hits of University Blue appear on both Jumpman logos featured on the midsole and heel, the “Air Jordan” tongue tab, and the embroidered “23” found on the heel. Wrapping up this classic model is the University Blue on the Jumpman logo embossed on the outsole.
The Air Jordan 9 University Blue releases this Saturday, December 5th for $190 on the SNKRS app and other Jordan stockists.
Nike Dunk High Varsity Purple
Fans of the Nike Dunk High have a lot to celebrate this year, as the classic basketball model has made an impactful return in 2020. This week delivers the first women’s exclusive release of the model this year with the new Varsity Purple colorway.
The Nike Dunk High Varsity Purple receives the OG treatment when it comes to color-blocking. Featuring a mix of smooth white and Varsity Purple leather on the upper, this upcoming release holds similar two-toned features as the recent Spartan Green and upcoming Maize colorways. What makes this version stand out is its translucent purple outsole and gold embroidered tongue tag.
Add the Nike Dunk High Varsity Purple to your rotation when it drops this Thursday, December 3rd on the SNKRS app and other Nike stockists for $120.
