We’ve seen countless Olympic inspired sneakers this year but one of the most iconic, the Air Jordan 7 Retro Olympics, is getting a different kind of retro this month. Instead of re-releasing the Olympic AJ7 colorway that Michael Jordan wore as a member of the Dream Team in Barcelona back in 1992, Jordan Brand is dropping the “Tinker Alternate” Jordan 7 Olympics seen below. As the story goes, legendary designer Tinker Hatfield created this alternative Olympic colorway back in the day but it never made it to production. Tinker’s version of the Olympic 7 adds Midnight Navy to the upper and trades the silver overlays for white leather overlays. Silver finds its way onto the tongue and the heel pull is swapped from red to blue, with final touches coming in a multi-color midsole with splattered paint on the forefoot. Fast forward twenty-some odd years later and this Tinker Alternate colorway is this year’s Jordan Olympic release (along with a handful of others).

The Air Jordan 7 Olympics “Tinker Alternate” drops August 16th and is open for Pre-Bid and Pre-Sell now.
